December 3, 2023 – Anderson, IN…Dave Ohh and Brad Keysor were victorious in the Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), Sun Valley 40s on Sunday, with each picking up a win in SUPRS first sanctioned race at “The Home of the Little 500”-Anderson Speedway. It marked the second time in less than a week that SUPRS had run a double-header on a high-banked Hoosier racetrack as part of the season long Indyana Supermod Challenge. Just like the last two races at Winchester and Salem, it was Keysor and Ohh sitting in victory lane.
Anthony Corsoniti led a race high 34 laps and nearly won his first SUPRS points paying feature, but had to settle for second over Brad Keysor, after Ohh picked him off with six laps to go in the first 40 lap feature. Ryan Cloonan came home in fourth with Bob Gangwer in fifth. Cloonan established a track record for the supermodified sim racers when he clicked off a 9.450 second lap.
Keysor led all the way in the second feature after getting a good jump on pole sitter Bob Gangwer at the start. Ohh drove his way to second after starting sixth on the grid, and Gangwer came home third after dropping as far back as fifth at one point. Ryan Cloonan raced his way to third, battled with Dave Ohh for second, then nearly spun and had to settle for fourth overall. Anthony Corsoniti had his fair share of hard knocks in the second race but held on for fifth.
Great racing throughout the night was the highlight of SUPRS first visit to the famed Madison County Indiana 1/4 mile speedway, with a good deal of close, hard, but fair, competition. The first feature had but two cautions for nine laps total, and all 11 drivers finished the race. The second 40 lapper had just one caution, but it was for a spectacular crash in turn three and four involving Danny Ray, Bobby Hayduk and Gary Waldron.
Ray lost control down the backstretch and clobbered the turn three pit entrance. He bounced back across the track into the path of the oncoming Hayduk who then plastered Ray’s Smokie Bone’s Downhome Kitchen machine. Hayduk’s sudden stop surprised Waldron who then drilled Hayduk and sent him flying up and over Ray’s car and into the catch fence where he momentarily rode the top of the wall. Fortunately for all drivers, it was only a sim race!
