April 5, 2022 – Las Vegas, NV…Dave “SpeedyMan” Ohh won his fourth straight Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), Jeff Russell Special Tuesday night at The Bullring. Ohh dominated the race leading all but nine laps, and lapping all but second place finisher Brad Keysor in the BMK Logistics #3.
Ryan Cloonan was on the podium in third place driving the Simibility roadster.
Strategy Pays Off
“This feels good,” said Ohh. “Definitely strategy won this race for me, saving enough tire to burn it up at the end and I had too.” Ohh’s strategy nearly came unraveled when he was involved in an accident while lapping Dick Schuler. After a quick green the yellow came back out to move Ohh to the tail of the field for scoring purposes.
Brad Keysor inherited the lead but fortunately for Ohh, very little damage was done the the TMS Wolfpack “Black Beauty” machine. At the drop of the green for the final run to the finish, Ohh mashed the gas and charged back through the field to second place behind Keysor.
“When I unfortunately had that incident, I was able to burn ’em up and get back to the front and kind of park it there, and wait for that final push trying to time when we’d catch those lapped cars so I could get him in the closing laps and make sure Brad didn’t have an opportunity,” he said.
Donations Help Jeff Russell
Jeff Russell has endured four different brain surgeries, multiple surgeries on his arm and eye, and has undergone intensive physical and occupational therapy. Jeff continues to struggle with being able to speak due to the Traumatic Brain Injury he suffered in the crash, but through the financial help of many in the racing community, and the sheer tenacity of Jeff, the speech therapy has continued to help Jeff express himself better.
