Quick Results: Warren Inherits Lead, Wins Regular 45 Night

June 8, 2021 – Oswego, NY… Rob Warren of Pulaski, NY, after making contact and losing the lead to Brad Keysor, was the grateful benefactor of Keysor’s bad luck, inherited the lead with less than a dozen laps to go, and went on to win the Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), 45 lap NASCAR Heat feature event for non-wing supermodifieds Tuesday night at Oswego Speedway. It was the second win in a row for the 1st to Finish Race Servers driver.

Bob Gangwer, who was one of four different race leaders, came home for second place, while Keysor, who clearly had the fastest car of the night, rallied back to third place after dealing with computer issues that cost him the win and nearly put him out of the race.

Thirteen drivers made the call to the green at “The Home of the Supermodifieds” for the feature. Heat race wins went to Gangwer and Keysor.

Shampine Memorial Next

Next week on June 15 SUPRS remembers Jim Shampine, the father of the modern radical offset supermodified. Shampine won more feature events at Oswego Speedway, (87), than any other driver and prior to his death in 1982, had already become a legend in real supermodified racing.

Official practice for the SUPRS 16th Annual Jim Shampine Memorial begins at 8:00pm. Drivers meeting is at 8:30pm. Time Trials lock in the Elite 8 qualifiers at 8:345pm and racing is set to start at 9:05pm with the first of two 10 lap heat races, (if needed) prior to the 80 lap feature.
