Las Vegas, NV – February 16, 2016…In a night filled with attrition, but highlighted with close racing action, Rob Warren of Pulaski, NY crossed the finish line on fumes to win the Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series,(SUPRS), President’s Day Special race at The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Bob Gangwer was second and new SUPRS member Brian Potvin was third.
The night was filled with simple spins but also plenty ragged edge racing that left several competitors sitting sideways and having the two-spin rule invoked.
For Ray Sand, Jr., it was even more frustrating after making contact with a lapped car, and spinning, then working his way back to the top three, then being an innocent victim of another driver’s spin, then coming back once more to take the the lead only to be inexplicably disqualified and kicked from the server by the gaming engine late in the race.
Third place finisher Brian Potvin made his first SUPRS start a fruitful one and took to the non-wing supermodifieds very well.
Josh Kerr also made his first SUPRS start but pulled off early with his car in one piece.
Dalton Martin was welcomed back to SUPRS competition for his first start in nearly five years and although black flagged for having the two-spin rule imposed, showed he hadn’t forgotten how to drive an online sim racing supermodified.
Watch for full results and quotes coming soon to SUPRS.net.
The SUPRS racers will lick their wounds and move on to Madera Speedway for the re-scheduled Veteran’s Day Special make-up feature. The evening gets rolling with official practice at 8p. The feature will start at 9pm.
