April 24, 2022 – Clovis, CA…The Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), with regrets to fans and followers, has declared that the 2022 Cherry Breaker 63 supermodified sim race on Monday April 25 at Madera Speedway has been canceled due to a lack of entries. The SUPRS LIVE! broadcast has also been canceled for the evening.
The deadline for a driver to submit a registration indicating that he was planning on racing the Cherry Breaker was met with just three entries. Danny Ray, Bobby Hayduk and Dick Schuler were the only drivers of eight eligible that entered. SUPRS official had announced that at least four of the eligible drivers needed to affirm their intent to compete or the race would be canceled.
Monday Schedule Revised.
Because of the cancellation of the special invitation only Cherry Breaker 63, Monday’s schedule has been revised. The 18th Annual Summit Classic practice session that was to take place following the race for drivers that had never won a SUPRS wing supermodified feature event, will now take the slot left open from the Cherry Breaker 63 cancellation and moves up about an hour.
The revised schedule for Monday April 25, 2022 is now:

- 8:10pm-Drivers Meeting
- 8:20pm-Practice Session 1

Qualifying Order for Summit Classic Set
In other business, drivers made their qualifying draw for Tuesday night’s 18th Annual Summit Classic Pole Night prior to SUPRS Sunday Night Test-N-Tune at Madera. Thirteen drivers were present or had a proxy draw for them. SUPRS veteran Gary Waldron will be the first driver to hit the track and make a run for the pole position of the 2022 Summit Classic 125. Waldron is a Guaranteed Starter and is hoping to avoid having to run a qualifying heat race. Waldron led the field to the green flag from the number one spot at the very first Summit Classic 125 in 2005.
Series points leader, and two-time and defending race winner, Brad Keysor of Liverpool, NY, will be the fourth driver out to make his run for the pole and hopes to slot in one spot better than last year when he started outside of row one.
Dave Ohh is nicknamed “SpeedyMan” and for the last two years in a row, he’s lived up to the moniker setting the fastest lap in time trials to claim the pole position of the Summit Classic. This year, the 2020 winner is hoping that the 13th draw doesn’t prove to be unlucky.
Drivers that did not make a draw on Sunday will qualify after all those that did draw by order of season championship points, and will lose their fastest lap for not attending the draw.
Qualifying Order:
- 10-Gary Waldron (GS)
- 25-Bob Gangwer (GS)
- 22-Zach Sears (by Proxy Dave Ohh)
- 3-Brad Keysor (by Proxy Bob Gangwer)
- 7-Nelson Rodrigues
- 56-Dick Schuler

- 12-Anthony Corsoniti
- 14-Bobby Hayduk
