November 10, 2015 – Nashville, TN…The Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), has postponed the running of the annual Veterans Day Memorial race until further notice.
The race was to be the first rFactor event of the year for SUPRS using the SUPRS NW V1 non-wing supermodified car at Music City Speedway. Officials decided to postpone the race after drivers were being disqualified after taking time. Repeated attempts were made to rectify the problem to no avail and with the clock ticking past 10pm, the proverbial plug was pulled.
Prior to experiencing issues, Bob Gangwer set a new track record with a time of 14.340. Ray Sand, Jr. was second quick with a 14.356 followed by Steve Callahan, (14.362), Domenic Gioia, (14.597), and Rob Warren, (14.733). Race officials determined that Time Trials will stand as will the original feature line-up with the aforementioned drivers.
Drivers that show for the rescheduled race will be lined up according to SUPRS Gold Crest Wing Championship point standings.
As of this writing, the race has not been canceled and officials are working to not only find a suitable date to reschedule, but also are looking into solutions for the problem and have contacted Brian King the original track builder for a more input.
SUPRS official apologize for any inconvenience that this postponement may cause.
The next race on the schedule is the 11th Annual Turkey Shoot, which is also an rFactor race and this year will be held at Memphis Motorsports Park for the first time since 2007. The winner of the race will be awarded a Burgers’ Smokehouse Turkey which will be sent to their doorstep in time to enjoy it with their family for Thanksgiving.
