Now Tied for Most Feature Wins in SUPRS History
Lakeland, FL – February 28, 2014… He may have waited until the fifth and last night of the Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series Florida Speedweeks to pull off a win, but Ray Sand, Jr. taking the checkered flag first at USA International Speedway was all he needed to claim his second Speedweeks Championship.
Rob Warren came home second and narrowly beat Myles Maxon who finished third after a spirited charge from ninth starting place.
“This is awesome,” declared Sand, Jr. “First of all this Speedweeks Championship went right down to the wire and it was so cool to have five different winners in five different nights and for Kevin to get his first win, that’s what makes running with this league such a blast.”
“Really, I didn’t know if I could pull this off, especially here at this place because it’s so hard to find a rhythm, but I was able to stay out of trouble early and keep the car clean which is important here with the drag strip straights.
“To tie John, (Davidson), for the most wins in SUPRS on top of the win tonight and the Speedweeks Championship is just great. I didn’t think it’s something that anyone could have ever done and if he was still racing with us, I doubt any of us would have gotten close. So yeah, this is a huge accomplishment and I just want to thank SUPRS for putting this on and to everyone for showing up. It’s been a long week, but a lot of fun.”

Five different tracks produced five different winners throughout Speedweeks and other than a glitch on the fourth night of racing due to a server issue, everything went off without a hitch.
