Bristol, TN-December 3, 2013…Bob Gangwer and Rob Warren split the wins in the 10th Annual Wing Side Up Twin 25s at Bristol Motor Speedway after two very competitive races for the Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series on Tuesday.

Gangwer and Warren swapped the lead twice while running at break-neck speed around the fast 1/2 mile speedway in the first 25 lap feature with Gangwer coming out on top at the finish.

“What a fun race with Rob,” started Gangwer. “I have to say, he surprised me when he got by me in the corner and I really thought that it was all over after that because he runs so well here.”

“He slipped up just enough for me to get back by him but it was a dog fight to the end,” Gangwer finished.

Warren ran the fastest lap of the race under the existing track record of 12.757 which was set in 2008 by Myles Maxon and stated, “I had a blast racing out there tonight with Bob, we both have a lot of laps here and it showed as we were able to pull away from the pack. I just wish I could have pulled away from him when I got the lead but I slipped just a little and he really put a move on me low.”

Warren came back with a vengeance in the second feature and led all but 3 laps to claim the victory. “When I saw the line up I never figured I’d have anything for Gary,(Waldron who started on the pole), because he had been consistently fast all night,” said Warren.

Warren went on to explain how he got the lead saying, “The 15, (Joey Callahan), got into Sand pretty good and we both went by him, then Joey went under Gary and pushed up so I figured I had the room so I went three wide and got them both.”

Current point leader Ray Sand, Jr. finished both races on the podium but not without having to drive the wheels off his race car to get there. He said, “That first race, I decided to start last to go for the SUPRSChallenge bonus and we all got jumbled up on the start so I really had to abuse the car just to get up to third and when I did Bob and Rob were checked out.”

“In the second race, Joey got into me really hard early on and I thought I was going out of the park, but somehow kept it going and just fought my way back and got to watch Rob and Bob go at it again,” explained Sand, Jr. then added, “I just want to say what a blast it is to race with this league at this track. I just really wish some of the people that have left the league for whatever reasons would come back, because it’s not about winning or losing or the mod we use, it’s about what this league stands for and I’m just proud to be a part of this family.”

Earlier in the evening after members expressed their heartfelt sympathies on the loss of his mother, Steve Callahan set fast time when he stopped the clock with a 12.799 second lap. Callahan, Warren and Sand, Jr. were SUPRSChargers for the night.

SUPRS resumes action in just one week on December 10 for the prestigious 10th Annual Dion Parish Memorial at Rander Speedway.
