Rob Warren Wins after Wacky Night at Oswego Speedway

June 24, 2014-Oswego, NY…It may have been billed as a “Regular 45” but the events surrounding Rob Warren’s Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series Gold Crest Non-Wing Supermodified win was anything but on Tuesday at Oswego Speedway.

Warren was one of three different leaders of the race on a night that had plenty of weird server connection issues and kept Myles Maxon from winning his third race in a row.

After starting in seventh position for the feature, Warren was able to take advantage of several miscues by the drivers in front of him at the start. With early leader Steve Callahan getting into a dogfight with Ray Sand, Jr., Warren was able to move into the top three when Callahan and Sand, Jr. decided to rough each other up.

Maxon moved into the lead with Chris Meyers second Bob Gangwer third and Rob Warren up to fifth by lap 20. Then Meyers lost connection dropping from the server and leaving the car parked on the front stretch. Gangwer narrowly missed the 23 of Meyers as Warren pulled to the rear nerf bar in turn one.

Two circuits later, Maxon, who looked to be a shoe in for the win, suddenly disappeared from the race when his gaming computer decided to minimize his race screen. Warren wasted no time going by Gangwer and moved to the lead and kept it there for the rest of the race. Gangwer came home second while Ray Sand, Jr. was able to work his way back to the podium. Callahan and Kyle Perry rounded out the top 5.

Maxon turned in the fastest lap of the race for the third straight week with a 16.076 second go around Oswego Speedway. Callahan and Meyers won their heat races.

Perry, Gangwer, Chris Meyers and Ray Sand, Jr. rounded out the top five.

The 10th Anniversary season continues on July 1 with the running of the 10th Annual Independence Day Twin 35s at Oswego Speedway. Practice starts at 8:30 pm with the green flag dropping for racing action at 9:00 pm.
