Dave “SpeedyMan” Ohh Dominates Night 1 of 13th Annual Mr. Online Supermodified
July 28, 2020 – Oswego, NY…Dave “SpeedyMan” Ohh cleaned the clock of the rest of the Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), competitors on Night 1 of the 13th Annual Mr. Online Supermodified competition Tuesday night at Oswego Speedway. Not only did he lead all but one lap of the feature on the way to winning it, he had the fastest lap of the race, grabbed the SUPRS Charger for advancing the most places, won his heat race and set fast time in his TMS Wolfpack “Black Beauty” roadster.
“Rocket” Rob Warren had his hands full keeping the 1st to Finish Race Servers roadster straight, but managed to finish second ahead of a smooth sailing Keith “Put One on Ya” Powell who was third.
Four Wide Fly By
The start of the race was thrilling and tense when SpeedyMan went past three other cars in a four-wide maneuver in turn one. “I certainly didn’t plan on making it four wide,” Ohh explained. “I saw the cars fan out in front of me, and I saw they were three wide. I was already committed to going around the outside, the long way around. Thankfully I hung on and didn’t lose it, because it was kind of sketchy up there on cold tires.”
He added, “It was definitely the scary moment of the race for me.”
Different, Not Comfortable
Ohh’s become very proficient at parking his ride in victory lane, but that doesn’t mean he was particularly comfortable doing it in the wing supermodified. “These are definitely a different beast, these wing cars here,” he said. “They are a little more twitchy at least for me.” That ‘twitchiness” could be the reason half of the field was collected in a turn one crash on lap four of the race. “It’s a shame we had that big wreck, it took out a lot of good cars,” stated the winner. “I got to the front and was able to survive another one.”
“I have to give a shout out to SUPRS, Hairbag Studios, BreezeGraphics.com, 1st to Finish Race Servers, Icings on Top and of course The Mod Squad and HeatFinder.net,” he said
Even with all the success that Ohh experienced on the first night of the 13th Annual Mr. Online Supermodified, he was quick to thank those that helped get him to victory lane saying, “SUPRS, Hairbag Studios, BreezeGraphics.com, 1st to Finish Race Servers, Icings on Top and of course The Mod Squad and HeatFinder.net.”
Mr. Online Supermodified Crowned on Wednesday
The drivers now prepare their non-wing NASCAR Heat supermodifieds for Night 2 of the 13th Annual Mr. Online Supermodified tomorrow July 29. After the feature race is finished and the points are totaled, one SUPRS hero will win the 2020 Mr. Online Supermodified Cup presented by 1st to Finish Race Servers.
Practice begins at 8:15pm at Oswego Speedway. The Drivers Meeting takes place at 8:30pm with Time Trials following at 8:45pm. The first 10 lap Heat Race is scheduled to start at 9:05pm with the 50 lap Feature to follow.
