Dave “SpeedyMan” Ohh Leads All 200, Laps All but Second Place En-route to Second SUPRS Topless! 200 Win
August 17, 2022 – Oswego, NY…The 2022 version of the Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), of the season ending Topless! 200 at Oswego Speedway will go down in history as the one where Dave “SpeedyMan” Ohh was “oh so good” after he set a new track record in Time Trials, led all 200 laps, set the fastest lap of the race, and lapped all but second place en-route to his second career win in the prestigious supermodified sim racing event.
Back with a Vengeance
After winning the race in 2019, then losing it in 2020 when he lost connection after leading 122 laps, then not being able to make the race in 2021, Ohh came back with a vengeance to dominate the race in order to make certain that he could reach his stated goal of claiming a “perfect” SUPRS Triple Crown of Supermodified Sim Racing presented by Icings on Top. Ohh made no bones about what was most important to him going into the 200 lapper saying, “The Triple Crown in more important to me than winning another Topless! 200, I’m going to do everything I can to get out front early and stay there.”
Ohh did just that, and at one point was no less than a half a straight away from lapping the entire field before a caution flag saved Zach Sears from going down a lap like the rest of Ohh’s victims.
Topless! Win Seals Ohh’s Second Non-Wing Championship
Ohh’s win was more than enough to seal the lid on his second SUPRS Gold Crest Non-Wing Supermodified Championship coming home 120 points ahead of defending champion Brad Keysor. With eight wins in the 13 race season, it was almost a foregone conclusion that Ohh would be crowned champ, and when Keysor announced that he would be unable to make the last show at Oswego, all Ohh had to do was start the feature. But again, he left nothing to chance, taking every possible bonus point he could to make sure he sealed the deal.
Sears Stays Out of Trouble, Comes Home Second
Sears himself had a great run to finish second after navigating lapped traffic and keeping the car in one piece. Sears tied his best Topless! 200 finish of second place and gave thanks to Dave Ohh for coaching him to his best run in the 200 since 2020.
Bob Gangwer had a tight race with Anthony Corsoniti for the better part of the event, but ultimately came out on top to come home in third, a full four laps behind the leader.
Corsoniti claimed fourth with Steven Vincent placing in the top five. Danny Ray was the surprising sixth place finisher and the last car of 11 starters left on the track. Ray’s finish of sixth came after starting in tenth place, giving him the SUPRSCharger award for advancing the most places.
Break in the Action
SUPRS will take a break from the online sim supermodified racing as many members gear up to spend time with friends and family at the Oswego Speedway 66th Annual International Classic 200 over Labor Day weekend.
When the break ends, the drivers take to one of the original SUPRS tracks for the 19th Annual Harvest of Speed on October 4, 2022 at LaPorte Speedway. The 75 lap feature will be part of the 2022-23 Indyana Supermod Challenge Regional Tour.
