Fourth Win in a Row for Callahan

Stafford, NY – April 1, 2014… Steve Callahan wasn’t fooling around when he won the Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series feature at Stafford Mountain Speedway on April Fools Day.

Callahan took off from the drop of the green flag and built an early lead that in a race that culminated with him crossing the line a full second in front of Myles Maxon and four seconds ahead of third place finisher Ray Sand, Jr.

I made a change between the heat and the feature and it really took off and I was able to get a good start on Rob then pull out to a lead by turn one as I just focused on getting into a rhythm,” he said.

Callahan acknowledged that winning at Stafford Mountain came a little easier since it’s a track he’s fond of. “I love this place, it’s one of my favorite tracks and I always like coming back here to race,” said Callahan. “It reminds me a lot of  New River Valley, which is probably my favorite track to race on.”

After a rocky start to the season, the driver of the CPR Motorsports, Ice Oil number 55 supermodified has come on strong. He now has four wins in a row and if he goes five for five will have a bounty placed on his head. Any driver that beats him will take 10 Championship points from Callahan’s total and add it to his own. Once the bounty has been placed on Callahan, each time he can chalk up another win and keep the streak going he will add 5 bonus points to his Championship total and the bounty will increase by five points as well for each of his wins.

“I’m really looking forward to next week because we’ve got a couple of big shows and I”m just going to try to keep this streak going,” Callahan said.
