13th SUPRS Online Supermodified Sim Racing Schedule Starts October 18
September 27, 2016 – Goshen, IN…The Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), has finalized their 2016-17 Gold Crest Wing Supermodified Sim Racing schedule, and drivers will make their way through 16 states and Canada for a 42 race season.
Expecting the release of SUPRS first wing supermodified for rFactor, series officials have decided to use both NASCAR Heat, (NH), and rFactor, (RF), platforms, with 15 races listed as NH shows and 27 being scheduled as rFactor events.
Challenging twists abound and to become the SUPRS Gold Crest Wing Champion, a driver will have to be able to adjust and adapt not only to a variety of track sizes and configurations that range from small narrow 1/4 mile speedways where skillful throttle control will help, to high-speed one mile ovals and tri-ovals where fine tuning and nerves of steel will reward a driver that is smooth.
“With the ability to use both our NASCAR Heat and rFactor supermodified sim racing platforms, the door is wide open for SUPRS to put together a supermodified sim racing schedule that has variety and excitement that continues to pay homage to our traditional dates while we try to imagine what could happen in real supermodified racing,” stated SUPRS co-founder Bob Gangwer. “Our goal has always been to promote all forms of supermodified racing sanctions and drivers from coast to coast and not just focus on one sanction, and I think we are continuing to push that awareness with this year’s schedule.”
Traditions Continue, New Venues Added
While many will recognize the traditional dates and names for most of the SUPRS 2016-17 wing supermodified schedule but there is also 10 new venues. That along with some dates having both the wing and non-wing supermodifieds booked on the same night and other events that will use both NASCAR Heat and rFactor on the same night, makes the SUPRS wing season as unique as the supermodified division itself.

The SUPRS stars will kick off the new season October 18, 2016 with the 13th Annual “Harvest of Speed 75” at LaPorte Speedway using the NASCAR Heat platform at the track where SUPRS ran it’s very first race way back in 2004.. This race is part of the season long “Indyana Supermod Challenge Series” which features winged and non-wing supermodifieds vying for regional and season points on the same night at tracks located throughout the state of Indiana.
Defending SUPRS Gold Crest Wing Supermodified Champion, Ray Sand, Jr. is one of only two drivers with multiple Harvest of Speed wins and hauled in his third career Harvest of Speed win last year. Three-time SUPRS Gold Crest Wing Supermodified Champion Myles Maxon has a record four wins.
After many years of being a NASCAR Heat race held at Decatur Speedway in IL, the “Black Kat Klassic 50” moves to a new venue in Red Ball Raceway located in KY and will be the first rFactor race of the season. Ace rFactor racer Rob Warren is the defending winner.
A Gnarly November
When the calendar flips to November, the SUPRS racers will head to the Tar Heel State for the
13th Annual “North Carolina Swing” and will compete at five tracks over the course of three days. Warren is the defending North Carolina Swing Champion but will have his work cut out for him as this year’s “NC Swing” has two new venues in Concord Motorsports Park and Southern National Raceway Park. In addition, both sim racing platforms will be used.
The Veterans Day Special on 11/8 continues as a rFactor race but, while remaining in TN, moves to its second new venue in two years, Levi Signature,Speedway. The 13th Annual “Turkey Shoot” on 11/15, (where the winner will be awarded a Burgers’ Smokehouse Turkey), is again a rFactor 40 lap race at Memphis Motorsports Park. The 13th Annual “Wing Side Up Twin 25s” will close out November supermodified sim racing schedule using both RF and NH at Bristol Motor Speedway on 11/29.

As has been the case for most of SUPRS 13 years, the sanction has chosen to urge members to focus more on their family rather than sim racing in the month of December booking only two shows during that month.
The 13th Annual Dion Parish Memorial moves to its rightful home of Kalamazoo Speedway on 12/6 and will use rFactor as the platform for the 62 lap race. The SUPRS racers will close out 2016 with another new venue on 12/13. Mopar Speedway for rFactor is the scene of the Christmas Special, a quick 25 lap race where the winner is awarded a Burgers’ Smokehouse Christmas ham.
January Full of Racing
As the for the rest of the seven month-long season, members will find a very aggressive schedule that includes the always interesting Crazy Canuck Snowball Derby which now moves to Mosport Speedway, an Empire State Super Series Blind Date Night, the Mid-Season Championship Twin 35s at Oswego Speedway which will award double-points, and the two-night Terry Gibson Memorial at Sandusky Speedway and the Groundhog Day Derby fill out the month of January.

The St. Patrick’s Day “Grab O’ the Green” at Dover Downs Int’l Speedway makes for the third and last race on a track over 3/4 of a mile on 3/14 and the SUPRS racers will stay on the East Coast for the New England 50 at Stafford Motor Speedway.
Of course the SUPRS “Triple-Crown” wouldn’t be complete without the SUPRS All-Star Classic that takes place using rFactor at SUPRS Star Speedway to close out “March Madness” on the 28th.
A Return Visit and a New Race
For the first time in many years, SUPRS heads back to Mansfield Motor Speedway for the Buckeye 50 to begin the last month of racing in April on 4/4, then wing and non-wing supermodifieds will take to Indianapolis Raceway Park for the 11th Annual Indyana Supermodified Challenge presented by WAG’s Custom and Cool Awards on 4/11, then the trek west begins as the season comes to a close.

A donation to the Jeff Russell Recovery Fund in the name of the race winner will be made.
Summit Classic Ends Season
The 13th Annual Summit Classic 125 Week at Madera Speedway begins on 4/24 with NASCAR Heat “Throwback Night” then continues on 4/25 with the non-points Cherry Breaker 63 for drivers that have never won a SUPRS feature, as well as Time Trials for the 13th Annual Summit Classic 125.
