SUPRS 15th Anniversary Gold Crest Wing Supermodified Season Will Use NASCAR Heat, rFactor for 46 Race Schedule
Goshen, IN – September 18, 2018… The Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), embarks on its 15th Anniversary season and has officially released its 2018-19 Gold Crest Wing Supermodified Schedule featuring a wide variety in sim racing platforms and track styles. The season schedule begins in October and has 46 races in 18 states and Canada over the course of eight months.
SUPRS Joins with TMS, HeatFinder to Offer Public DLC
In addition to the variety offered, SUPRS recently opened up all of their NASCAR Heat modifications and tracks to the public. With the help of The Mod Squad and HeatFinder, anyone that has the SUPRS Downloaded Content, (DLC), can join the SUPRS NASCAR Heat Race Server and can do that 12 times throughout the season.
Details are still evolving, but it’s expected that as long as racers that are interested register at the SUPRS HeatFinder page, or on SUPRS website, all will be welcome. This means that anyone can race a NASCAR Heat supermodified against the SUPRS Members and could lead to more people learning about the real supermodified division.
Paying Homage to Heritage
After a gradual and steady increase in rFactor based dates for the last two wing supermodified seasons, SUPRS returns to its NASCAR Heat roots on this schedule. While the bulk of the schedule is still rFactor based, there is at least one NASCAR Heat race per month and not more than four rFactor races between the NASCAR Heat shows.
SUPRS returns to several NASCAR Heat tracks that have a long history of hosting events including New River Valley Speedway in October, Rander Speedway in December, and Decatur Speedway in March.
The SUPRS racers competed at New River Valley 14 times in the previous 14 years, the Dion Parish Memorial ran consecutively from 2006-2015 at Rander, and Decatur hosted the Black Kat Klassic from 2010-2015.
Special Event Planned
Of particular note is the tenth race of the season. Listed as the 15th Anniversary Special and scheduled for November 6, 2018, which is close to the original founding date of the sanction, this special event is set to use the SUPRS NASCAR Heat Supermodified, (NHSM) modification, which adds even more variety to the stout schedule. Built by Kevin Marine of Shaker Designs, the NHSM v2 mod was the first mod built “in-house” by SUPRS, was the first supermodified sim racing mod to have more than one type of chassis, and was released in 2006. The track for this race has not been announced.

Season Starts with Harvest of Speed
The season starts with a NASCAR Heat show on October 2. The 15th Annual Harvest of Speed at LaPorte Speedway is also the first race open to the public with the SUPRS Race Server being listed on HeatFinder.net. Kicking off the season at LaPorte is a tradition that dates back to the very first SUPRS sanctioned show. And while it’s never an easy race or place to conquer, this 75 lap show has always produced some good racing.
Red Ball Returns
Red Ball Raceway returns to the schedule for the first time since 2016 and if the last time, (which was the first time SUPRS visited this KY track), is any indication, fans and racers alike are in for a thrilling event. The Bluegrass 50 takes place on October 9 and is the first rFactor race of the season.
North Carolina Swing Continues
Last year, the North Carolina Swing moved back where it had traditionally been run in October. This year the five race swing continues in the same area of the calendar.
This very tough swing has five races in three nights with the first two shows being NASCAR Heat based. The NC Swing will again be contested on Dasera Raceway, Caraway Speedway, Southern National Raceway Park and Concord Motorsports Park. The fifth and last race of the week is The Hickory Hustle where only the top eight drivers after the first four races receive an invitation to race for the North Carolina Swing crown.
Black Kat Klassic Back at Myrtle Beach
The popular Black Kat Klassic completes the first month of racing in SUPRS 15th Anniversary season and is again scheduled for Myrtle Beach Speedway. Even though it was the first race ever for SUPRS at this rFactor track last year, it turned out to be one of the best of the season with just one caution in a 50 lap race that took just over 15 minutes to run.
Rest of Schedule No Less Interesting
As the for the rest of the season, members and fans will find a very aggressive schedule that includes marquee events like the Mid-Season Championship Twin 35s at Oswego Speedway and the always interesting Crazy Canuck Snowball Derby at Mosport Speedway.
Then there’s a full five nights of racing at the Florida Speedweeks, along with wing and non-wing supermodifieds for the SUPRS Copper World Classic presented by Kern Motorsports in February, pus the three-race Keystone Nationals in March.

Popular events such as the Turkey Shoot in November, Wing Side Up Twin 25s and Christmas Special in December, the Ground Hog Day Derby in February, (this year on a Saturday), Veterans Day, Presidents Day Specials, St. Patrick’s Day Grab O’ the Green, and the Jeff Russell Special are all on the schedule once again.
Remembering Real Racers
SUPRS continues to honor supermodified racers lost while racing supermodifieds. There’s the Dion Parish Memorial 62 in December, the Terry Gibson Memorial 100 in January, the Billy Vukovich III Classic 100 in February, and the Randy Witkum Memorial 125 in March.
All of these special races all carry a guaranteed starter bonus for the winner that can be used at the season ending 15th Annual Summit Classic 125 at Madera Speedway in April.
Multi-Race Season Long Regional Tours Reward Consistency
Two multi-race regional tours that run throughout the season are the Indiana Supermod Challenge and the Empire State Super Series. Both tours reward consistent finishes over the eight months of racing. The Indiana Supermod Challenge uses both wing and non-wing supermodifieds, and races through the Hoosier State.
Similarly the Empire State Super Series has races at tracks throughout New York including the Mid-Season Championship at Oswego Speedway. However, this tour also runs into the non-wing summer season of 2019, making it even more challenging.
Triple Crown and Dash Bonus Extra Incentives
Two of the three SUPRS Triple Crown presented by Icings on Top races take place during the wing supermodified sim racing season. The first is the 10th Annual SUPRS All-Star Classic on April 16. This 200 lap spectacular is like the Star Speedway International Classic that has gone on for 53 years.
The second leg of the SUPRS Triple Crown presented by Icings on Top is also the last race of the year. The 15th Annual Summit Classic Week has been reduced down to just two days to get the season wrapped up early in May. Time Trials to lock in the front row are on Monday May 6, while the Summit Classic 125 at Madera Speedway takes the green flag on Tuesday May 7, 2019.
A driver that can win those two races and the third and last race of the SUPRS Triple Crown presented by Icings on Top, (the Topless! 200), receives a special award at year’s end. To date, only Ray Sand, Jr. and Rob Warren have accomplished this amazing task.
Once again this season the SUPRS Fast Car Dash Challenge awards drivers that win a Fast Car Dash with five points. At the end of the season the points get tallied and the driver with the most, wins a special award.
