Schedule Has 38 Race Dates Over the Course of Seven Months in 14 States and Canada
Goshen, IN– September 29, 2022…The Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), has announced a 38-race schedule for the 2022-23 Gold Crest Wing Supermodified sim racing season, and although the race count is down somewhat from last year, the season includes iconic venues, and marque events that will be joined by several new tracks, a new multi-race swing modeled after real supermodified racing, and 38 races in 7 months that cover 14 states and Canada.
Four new venues have been added to the schedule, with three of those, (Columbus Motor Speedway, Lorain County Speedway, and New Bremen Speedway), being part of the newly added five race “Ohio State 500” series.
The exciting new addition is modeled after a five race series, of 100 lap supermodified races, that ran from 1974-1977 through the Buckeye State. The real Ohio State 500 series is still considered one of the greatest comings together, of many of the greatest real supermodified racers, in the history of the division.
For the virtual version of the Ohio State 500, SUPRS will run at Toledo Speedway, Sandusky Speedway, Columbus Motor Speedway, Lorain County Speedway, and New Bremen Speedway, all tracks that hosted the real Ohio State 500 races. The traditional dates of the Black Kat Klassic, The Terry Gibson Memorial, and St. Patrick’s Day Grab O’ the Green remain on the schedule, but are now also part of the SUPRS Ohio State 500.
Long Standing Tracks Dropped
With the addition of the new tracks, several long-standing tracks, including Bristol Motor Speedway and RT 93 Raceway, which had held solid dates on the SUPRS schedule since 2004/2005, along with Nazareth Speedway, a more recent addition, have been dropped from the schedule.
The other noticeable change is the reduction of the popular “Keystone Nationals” from three races to just one, that being the Randy Witkum Memorial at Jennerstown Speedway. While there are no replacements for RT 93 or Nazareth, the two track dropped from the Keystone Nationals, The Salem Speedway will host the Wing Side Up Twin 25s for the new season.
Season starts with Harvest of Speed October 4
The season kicks off with a NASCAR Heat show on October 4 and the 19th Annual Harvest of Speed at LaPorte Speedway. Kicking off the season at LaPorte is a tradition that dates back to the very first SUPRS sanctioned show in October of 2004. At that time SUPRS used the “PSTM” modification for NASCAR Heat by Mike Jackson. Today, the sanction uses it’s own mod but keeps the tradition of alive at LaPorte as a nod to their own rich history of NASCAR Heat format racing.
Twisted on Tap for Anniversary
SUPRS 19th Anniversary Special will feature a visit to the fictional Twisted Metal Raceway. This track was built by Mike Jackson and specially modified for SUPRS use in the early 2000s and hasn’t been run since then. The dirt version should prove to be a fun and unusual challenge that keeps the drivers on their toes for 75 laps.
The SUPRS stars will do battle in their NASCAR Heat supermodifieds using the “NHSM” modification on November 1.
Memorial Races Remain Unchanged
SUPRS continues to remember and honor real supermodified racers that lost their life doing what they loved with the running of memorial races.
The 19th edition of the race that honors the late Dion Parish, and is considered SUPRS most prestigious supermodified sim race, is set for the second week of the season on October 11, 2022
The Terry Gibson Memorial continues in January on the 10th and 11th, and the Randy Witkum Memorial stays in March. Both are NASCAR Heat dates, as is the Billy Vukovich III Classic at Mesa Marin in April.
All of the memorial races carry a guaranteed starter bonus for the winner that can be used at the season ending 19th Annual Summit Classic 125 at Madera April.
Triple Crown and Dash Bonus Extra Incentives
Two of the three SUPRS Triple Crown of Supermodified Sim Racing presented by Icings on Top races take place during the wing supermodified sim racing season. The first is the 14th Annual SUPRS All-Star Classic, held on February 11. This 200 lap spectacular is modeled after the Star Speedway International Classic that has been going on for over 50 years.
The second leg of the SUPRS Triple Crown presented by Icings on Top is the 19th Annual Summit Classic 125 and the final race of the year on April 26, 2023.
A driver that can win those two races, and the third, and final race of the SUPRS Triple Crown of Supermodified Sim Racing presented by Icings on Top, (the Topless! 200), receives a special award at years end. To date, only Ray Sand, Jr., Rob Warren, Brad Keysor, and Dave Ohh have accomplished this Herculean task.
The season-long BMK Logistics Fast Car Dash Challenge awards drivers that win a Fast Car Dash with five points, while just making the Dash pays a point. At the end of the season the points get tallied and the driver with the most, wins an Amazon gift card.

About SUPRS:
The Supermodified Ultimate Racing Series started in 2004 when supermodified race fans John Davidson and Bob Gangwer started to enjoy online racing with their favorite form of motor-sport, the supermodified division.
The team quickly realized that there were many opportunities available with the online racing platform that would give them a way to give back to the teams, tracks, sponsors and fans of the division. With this thought in mind, and using a suggestion from a member, the league went to a donation to play” format soon after its formation.
By asking members to donate to the newly created Dion Parish Memorial Benevolent Fund for Supermodifieds, SUPRS quickly accumulated funds that allowed the league to donate cash to injured drivers and their families when they needed it the most.
SUPRS has continued to grow using this, until then, unheard of model, and is now in its ninteenth season of sim racing and is one of the longest continuously operating online racing leagues in history.
