SUPRS Opens Inaugural rFactor Season with 11th Annual Port City Kick-Off

May 31, 2015 – Goshen, IN…After many years of waiting, and months of testing and fine tuning, the Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), is ready to kick off their 2015 Gold Crest Non-Wing Championship season presented by 1st to Finish Docks & Hoists on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at Oswego Speedway online with the 11th Annual Port City Kick-Off.

SUPRS first Non-Wing supermodified race happened in August 2005 at Jennerstown Speedway with the NASCAR Heat platform. A 10 race schedule of feature races that were 40 laps was released for that summer of racing and 19 drivers were in attendance for that first event, (The Independence Day Twin 25s). John Davidson and Sean Gibbs picked up the feature victories and Jim Crannell went on to become SUPRS first Non-Wing Supermodified Champion.

The move to rFactor and excitement over the new mod and track has generated an increase in SUPRS membership over the past week and SUPRS officials expect this inaugural season of rFactor to exceed that 2004 event. So far 20 racers have indicated that they are ready to race on June 2.

Three-Time SUPRS Gold Crest Non-Wing Champion,  and 2010 Port City Kick-Off winner, Ray Sand, Jr.,  has been the fastest in pre-season testing so far and is one of only two drivers to crack the 16.4 second bracket. His teammate “Crazy” Chris Meyers has also been in the 16.4s.

Defending SUPRS Gold Crest Non-Wing Champion “Mighty” Myles Maxon is expected to miss the first several shows, making it hard to defend his title, but has indicated he will be out before the end of the season. Maxon has more opening day wins than any other SUPRS racer with three.

Rob Warren and Bob Gangwer are the only other active drivers, beside Maxon and Sand, Jr. that have a shot at becoming multi-time winners of the Port City Kick-Off. Gangwer won his in 2009, while Warren grabbed the win in 2011.

New to SUPRS, Ohioans Perry and Dave Vance will join SUPRS other father/son team of Steve and Joey Callahan looking for their first SUPRS rFactor win.

With a host of other experienced rFactor racers ready to roll, including Art Palmer, Dave Soja, Brian Strickland, Kevin Timmins, Domenic Gioia, Carl Becker, Dave Brigandi, Dan Shupe, Kevin Baker, Tony Reiner, Dave Wachner, and Jeremy Prime, this online sim supermodified event should be one that will be talked about for a long time after the computers are turned off for the night.

The SUPRS Race Server will open up on Tuesday June 2, 6pm to prepare for the Port City Kick-Off 75 presented by 1st to Finish Docks & Hoists.

Those wishing to become SUPRS members and eligible to compete in the season opener should do so at least 24 hours prior to Tuesday’s Port City Kick-Off 75 at Oswego Speedway,  so that SUPRS officials have plenty of time to process all requests and give all new members plenty of time to be ready for the first race of the season.

Official practice for the 11th Annual Port City Kick-Off begins at 8:00pm. Drivers meeting is at 8:30pm with racing set to start at 9:00pm.

Full details of the Port City 75 Kick-Off can be found on the SUPRS Schedule. SUPRS members should check the Forums for the latest info on server times and passwords.

About KTimmins77

Supermodified fan for over 30 years. Heard about this MOD and had to give it try! Been doing graphic art and design for along time. Owner of Breezegraphics Supermodified Art. Specializing in Vinyl Stickers and Window Clings. So designing my own paint scheme is right up my alley. :) Looking to enjoy some SUPRS racing and meet some new friends. Picked #77 in honor of "The King of Supermodifieds" Bentley Warren. I'll never forget that ragged old car (former swift 10pins) he used to muscle around The Steel Palace in the 70's.
