Goshen, IN – April 18, 2019…The Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), is bringing their non-wing supermodifieds to The Salem Speedway in southern Indiana on April 23, 2019 for the “Hurryin’ Hoosier 30.”
This non-wing supermodified sim racing spectacular pays homage to the past when The Salem Speedway was a regular stop for non-sanctioned supermodified racing in Indiana. The supermodifieds were a site to see, often running without wings and competing in short 30 lap feature races.
Salem Pivotal to Points
With only four races left in the 15th Anniversary SUPRS Gold Crest Wing Championship schedule, there’s no slowing down for the competitors that are looking to gain those last few points. This is especially true of Rob Warren and Keith Powell, because both are in the midst of a season long points battle, and are now separated by only three points.
Even more critical to the overall championship points battle is the fact that this race is also part of the 2018-19 Indyana Supermod Challenge, (ISC), series where the overall winner of the series takes home 15 valuable bonus points.
The ISC began in October at LaPorte Speedway, and finishes a week after the Salem show at Indianapolis Raceway Park with a double-header, wing and non-wing supermodified spectacular. Warren is the defending champion of the Indyana Supermod Challenge, as well as defending winner of the Salem race, so Powell, who led the points until last week, will have his work cut out for him at Salem and beyond trying to topple Warren’s reign in the Hoosier State.
Back to NASCAR Heat
After using the rFactor sim racing platform last year in their first visit back to Salem Speedway since 2015, SUPRS officials have switched back to the NASCAR Heat sim for this year’s race. Hoping to attract several top-notch NASCAR Heat regulars to the event, this race has been added to the season-long SUPRS/HeatFinder.net Supermodified Challenge schedule. As such, the race is open to the public to anyone that has registered to run at SUPRS.net, and has taken advantage of the public downloads available to registered sim racers.
