Littleton, CO – April 15, 2014…The Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series heads to the Rocky Mountain State to compete at Colorado National Speedway for the first time ever for a very special event.
In what is being billed as the “Tax Day Double Trouble Twins” the SUPRS competitors will contest part of the event during the day and the other part during the evening, making this race as challenging as trying to file your taxes with the Internal Revenue Service on Tax Day.
Each 50 lap feature will have it’s own set of time trials to help establish the line up. As an added twist, drivers may choose to qualify for second Twin or choose to stand on time from first Twin. Only the top four qualifiers for the second Twin will be eligible for the second feature inversion redraw.
The famed track in Dacono, CO recently celebrated it’s 65th year, is Colorado’s only NASCAR sanctioned track and home to the Englewood Racing Association. The ERA is the oldest real supermodified sanctioning body in the country and races at CNS about once a month.
The current All-Time supermodified track record for the real track is 13.831 set by Davey Hamilton in 1993. The current one lap record as recorded by transponders belongs to multi-time ERA champion Harold Evans. Harold set the record during a heat race in 2011 when he turned a 14.149 second lap.
The online version of the track was converted from the NASCAR 2003 platform by “Smoke” and can be downloaded from the Mod Squad. It’s expected after an exhibition practice race recently that the online version will prove to be just as fast for the supermodifieds. Current unofficial fast time sits at 14.466 for the SUPRS competitors. The realism and detail put into the online version is truly something to behold and many will recognize some of the iconic CNS features situated around the track.
Practice starts at 8:00pm and Time Trials for the first Twin will take place at 8:45pm. Racing gets underway at 9:00pm with the drop of the green flag for heats.
