Goshen, IN-2/6/06…The Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series is proud to announce the sponsorship of a team to represent “The Home of the Ultimate Online Sim Race Car” in the Sim Racing Against Cancer event. SUPRS has made a donation to the race to be used in research for a cure for cancer furthermore establishing them as an organization determined to give back to the racing community.
The race will be held on Saturday February 18, 2006 at Homestead Speedway using the NASCAR Craftsman truck mod for NASCAR Racing 2003. All money raised will be going to Racing Against Cancer. All of the prizes are being donated or purchased out of pocket, not one single cent from the race funds will be spent by Sim Racing Against Cancer, the entire total will be sent to Racing Against Cancer.
“Crazy” Chris Meyers from Amherst, Ohio will be representing SUPRS in the fight for a cure to this deadly disease.. Meyers is currently sitting ninth in the SUPRS championship points standings while competing on a part-time basis.
“I’d like to thank all the guys for putting on this race. Like the millions of people around the world, I’ve also been affected by cancer losing friends and family. Hopefully, with this race and money raised, we can help find a successful cure for cancer. This race is special to me and to the SUPRS league. I will go out, have a good time, and not let racing overshadow the importance of this prestigious event. I’d like to thank Chris Nicastro for painting up my truck and to everyone at SUPRS for supporting me,” Said Meyers
“A big thanks to Charlie’s Towing out of Middleburg Heights. Ohio, and the 4th Turn Crazies for sponsoring the truck as well.”
SUPRS League Director, Bob Gangwer has encouraged all SUPRS members to either donate or attempt to make the race. “I can’t think of a better way to put our money where our mouth is,” said Gangwer. “There’s not a person in our league who can say they haven’t been affected one way or another by cancer, and this is a simple easy way to help Racing Against Cancer put more money towards finding a cure.”
“While I won’t be racing, I felt compelled to find one of our members who had run this type of mod, and encourage and support them. Chris approached me about it and I agreed that we should back him in this effort,” explained Gangwer.
SUPRS regular, Frank Keene, of Scranton, PA will also be racing in this event and will fly the prestigious DRT/DSES colors.
The race starts at 9 pm eastern standard time and can be watched live on RLMtv.com. Sim Racing Against Cancer has partnered up with ECT Radio, Race LM, RLMtv, and Racing Against Cancer to bring you the ONLY sim race officially endorsed by Racing Against Cancer.
