10th Anniversary Non-Wing Season to Showcase Different Venues
June 9, 2014 – Goshen, IN…The Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series continues it’s 10th Anniversary Season Tuesday with the start of the 2014 Non-Wing Supermodified Championship schedule.
The 14 race non-wing supermodified schedule kicks off June 10, 2014 with the running of the Port City 75 at Oswego Speedway followed by the running of the 10th Annual Jim Shampine Memorial 80, also at Oswego Speedway.
July will be the busiest month of the summer for the SUPRS racers as they run the always popular Independance Day Twin 35s at Oswego on July 1st, then the Mid-Season Championship 50 for double points on July 8.
For the first time ever for the non-wing supermodified season, SUPRS will run the Indiana Super Week July 15-17. This three race mini-swing is modeled after the prestigious Indiana Sprint Week held annually in the Hoosier State. The Indiana Super Week kicks off July 15 with a 50 lapper at Salem Speedway, moves north to Indianapolis Raceway Park on July 16 for another 50 lap feature and concludes July 17 at LaPorte Speedway with a 75 lap feature.
Rounding out July will be the 75 lap, 7th Annual Mr. Online Supermodified race at Oswego Speedway.
SUPRS rolls into the dog days of summer on August 5 at Oswego Speedway with a regular 45, then heads west to the beautiful Jennerstown Speedway the very next night for the running of the Laurel Highlands Classic 40 lap event.
A week later on August 12, the teams will return to Oswego Speedway to race “The Whistler” Pete Trenca Memorial 60 and pay tribute to Peter “Program” Trenca.
To close out the 10th Anniversary Season of SUPRS, Topless! 200 week begins on August 18 with the Rising Star 38 and SUPRS Modified 200 at Oswego Speedway. On August 19, the teams will run for the pole of the 10th Annual Topless! 200 where only the drivers with the top two times will be locked into the race. The racers will also have a chance to strap on the wing to go for the win in the 50 lap SUPRSNationals race.
Then on August 20, it’s time to go Topless! as the remainder of the field will be set for the 200 lap grind through the heat races and B-Main and one racer will be named the 10th Annual Topless! 200 champion.

The Supermodified Ultimate Racing Series was started in 2004 by supermodified race fans John Davidson and Bob Gangwer as a way to enjoy online racing with their favorite form of motorsport-the supermodified division.
The team quickly realized that there were many opportunities available with the online racing platform that would provide them a way to give back to the teams, tracks, sponsors and fans of the division. With this thought in mind, and using a suggestion from a member, SFJ and Bobby G.,(as Davidson and Gangwer are known respectively), the league went to a “donations to play” format soon after the formation of the league.
By asking members to donate to the newly created Dion Parish Memorial Benevolent Fund for Supermodifieds in order to compete with the league, SUPRS quickly accumulated funds that allowed the league to donate cash to injured drivers and their families when they needed it the most.
SUPRS has continued to grow using this, until then, unheard of model and will conclude it’s tenth anniversary season of online racing after the 2014 Topless! 200.
