SUPRS Non-Wing Supermodified Sim Racing Summer Season Begins June 1 with 18th Annual Port City Kick-Off

May 28 2022 – Goshen, IN…The Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), 2022 Gold Crest Non-Wing Supermodified Season Championship XVIII gets rolling with the 18th Annual Port City Kick-Off, June 1 at “The Home of the Supermodifieds”  Oswego Speedway, located on the shores of beautiful Lake Ontario. This supermodified sim race will use SUPRS regular summer season format of setting up the heat race line-ups using the “Points Won Handicap” system and includes heats and a 50 lap feature.

Historical Moments in SUPRS Summer Season and the Port City Kick-Off

SUPRS first Non-Wing supermodified race happened in August 2005 at Jennerstown Speedway with the NASCAR Heat platform. A 10 race schedule of feature races that were 40 laps started that summer of racing and 19 drivers were in attendance for that first event, (The Independence Day Twin 25s). John Davidson and Sean Gibbs picked up the feature victories and Jim Crannell went on to become SUPRS first Non-Wing Supermodified Champion.

Beginning in 2008, the first ever online version of Oswego Speedway was unveiled by SUPRS and Myles Maxon picked up the season opener. He then went on to win the championship and was the first SUPRS driver to win the season opener and the season championship.

Rob Warren won his first Port City Opener, (Kick-Off), in 2011, then in 2018 SUPRS All-Time Feature winner also claimed the SUPRS Gold Crest Non-Wing Championship, after winning the 2018 Port City Kick-Off.

Ray Sand, Jr. captured the first ever SUPRS rFactor race.

In 2015, Ray Sand, Jr. won his second Port City Kick-Off, (and the very first SUPRS rFactor race), and joined Myles Maxon and John Davidson as a multi-time winner of this race.

Maxon and Warren have more opening day wins than any other SUPRS racer with three each, while Davidson, Sand, Jr. and Keith Powell each have two Port City wins to their credit.

Dave Ohh and Bob Gangwer will look to join the multi-time winners list for the Port City Kick-Off. Gangwer won way back in 2009, while Ohh’s win was more recent in 2020. Ohh is the only driver other than Maxon and Warren to win the opener and then go on to claim the SUPRS Gold Crest Non-Wing Supermodified Championship crown.

Powell meanwhile will vie for his third Port City Kick-Off and hopes to start the summer season of supermodified sim racing in a grand way. Powell is the 2016 Gold Crest Non-Wing Supermodified Champion and will have to fend off a bevy of fast supermodified sim racers including defending Non-Wing Champion Brad Keysor, as well as “Rapid” Ryan Cloonan, the ever-improving Greg Breen, “The Quiet Storm” Anthony Corsoniti, and a host of others.
