February 15, 2021 – Goshen, IN…After a one week mid-winter break, the stars of the Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), are ready to continue their championship battle and pay honor to the Office of the President of the United States of America with the 2021 Presidents’ Day Special. The race will be held for the first time at Bracket Hill Raceway and kicks off a two week stretch of SUPRS action in New Hampshire.
First Time, But Not First Ever
While it’s true that this is the first time that SUPRS has contested the popular Presidents’ Day Special supermodified sim race at Bracket Hill Raceway, and it’s the first time that SUPRS has raced at Bracket Hill since 2015, it’s certainly not the first time that the sanction has competed at the fictional track. Built by Mike Jackson for his Paved Weekly Racing Series way back in 2003, SUPRS, from 2004 to 2015, raced at least once a year at the semi-banked racetrack. More times than not, the event the drivers were competing in was the annual 25 lap Christmas Special.
In all those races, Rob Warren and Bob Gangwer stand atop the SUPRS win list for Bracket Hill with two victories apiece. Steve Callahan and Gary Waldron are the only other active SUPRS drivers that have won at the 4/10ths paved oval. They each have one win.
Other SUPRS winners at Bracket Hill Raceway include, SUPRS Champions, John Davidson, Ray Sand, Jr., and Kris Heveron, as well as drivers Dave Biro III, Tom Heveron, and Sean O’Kane.
Good Mix of Drivers Expected
Former Presidents’ Day Special winners Dave Ohh, Rob Warren, and Keith Powell are expected to compete along with NASCAR Heat and SUPRS veterans Carl Becker, Derrick Backus, and of course former winners at Bracket Hill Raceway, Gary Waldron and Bob Gangwer. Brad Keysor, who is second in points to Ohh, is hoping to just get through the night and keep his title chances alive while fending off Warren and Powell who are chasing him.
Added to the mix will be drivers that have little to no experience at Bracket Hill like Danny Ray, Bobby Hayduk, Dick Schuler, and rookies, John Held, Steven Vincent and Ryan Cloonan, which should make for a great mix of talent and tenacity at Bracket Hill.
Practice for SUPRS 2021 Presidents’ Day Special starts at 8pm Tuesday February 16. The SUPRS racers will strap into their NHSM, (NASCAR Heat Supermodified), modification for winged supermodifieds for time trials, heats, and a 75 lap feature.
