November 12, 2022 – Goshen, IN…The sim racers of the Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), have their sights set on SUPRS 18th Annual Turkey Shoot at Memphis Motorsports Park, and if their aim is straight, and their skill great, they’ll come home with a prize to be thankful for.
A smorgasbord of supermodified sim racing awaits them at the 3/4 mile speedway in Memphis. There’s a full format of speed and daring that includes time trials, the “Turkey Trot ” for the SUPRS Six qualifiers, Heat Races and the 40 lap rFactor feature at Memphis Motorsports Park. All the drivers will be shooting for a Burgers’ Smokehouse turkey, but only the winner will be feasting on this delectable bird with his family for Thanksgiving.
Family Traditions at Burgers
The succulent slow smoked turkey has a value of over $70 and comes from a family company that was started in 1952 by E.M. Burger in Moniteau County Missouri.
Bugers’ Smokehouse can trace it’s roots all the way back to the 1920s when E.M. Burger’s parents started curing hams on their local farm. Now known as one of the largest companies of its kind, the time-honored traditions of hard work and special personal touch have never been lost, to the point that, according to the Burgers’ website, each ham still starts the curing process by being hand-rubbed with a seasoning blend dating back to one developed by the family over 100 years ago.
Four Have Back to Back Wins
A quad of drivers have won the Turkey Shoot back to back. Last year Dave Ohh joined Ray Sand, Jr., (2008, 2009), Dave Biro III, (2010, 2011), and Kyle Clark (2017, 2018) as the fourth to win two in a row. This year, he’ll look to join Sand, Jr. with three total wins and make history as the only driver to win three Turkey Shoots in a row. If he does, it will also mark his fourth win in a row, and seventh overall for the current campaign.
Only two other drivers that are former winners are expected to compete. Carl Becker won the race in 2014 and Brad Keysor took the honors in 2019.
