October 23, 2021 – Goshen, IN…The drivers of the Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), will be looking for a little luck this week when they roll in to Myrtle Beach Speedway for the SUPRS Black Kat Klassic. SUPRS member Kyle Perry recently said, “I’d rather be lucky than good,” and that statement by the real supermodified racer may be the understatement of the year headed into the next SUPRS event.
Wreck Riddled Race in 2020
One of the reasons that the SUPRS racers are trying to sneak up on the Black Kat Klassic while hoping for a little luck, is because last year’s wreck riddled Black Kat Klassic left five of the 17 starters sitting in the pits licking their wounds with destroyed race cars. Throughout the night there were several multiple car accidents, and a lot of parts found flying through the air. Much of the attrition in 2020 was attributed to a large group of drivers that were tackling the high-speed banks of Myrtle Beach for the first time, and simply couldn’t handle the speed, and bumpiness of the track, ending up with some Black Kat Scratch Fever.
Dave Ohh came home the winner in a race that had 10 cautions that totaled 35 extra laps and said, “I had a few scares there. Mostly it was just coming through the wrecks as they were clearing up.” Ohh will be looking for his second Black Kat Klassic win, and if he does, he’ll become the seventh different driver to win the race more than once. If he can pull it off, he’ll be the first driver to win it back to back.
