13 Race Non-Wing Supermodified Sim Racing Season Begins June 4

May 14, 2019 – Goshen, IN… The Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), 2019 15th Anniversary Gold Crest Non-Wing Supermodified sim racing schedule has been released and shows 13 race season that begins on June 4.

Focused on Oswego, Other Tracks Added

Starting with the Port City Opener 75 on 6/4/19, the season runs through August 13, and while focused mainly on dates at “The Home of the Supermodifieds,” Oswego Speedway, there are a couple of different venues that SUPRS will visit.

Included in the additional tracks is SUPRS Pantucky Speedway for rFactor, and Jennerstown Speedway for NASCAR Heat. Pantucky is a fictional track originally built for NASCAR Heat by Flash Tracks and converted to rFactor. Currently, it’s being finished by BreezeGraphics.com and SUPRS Member Nelson Rodrigues.

Jennerstown, on the other hand, is no stranger to the SUPRS competitors. The first SUPRS points race for the non-wing supermodified sim racing was contested on this real track in July of 2005. SUPRS used Jennerstown as home base for the non-wing supers for almost three years before SUPRS Oswego Speedway for NASCAR Heat was completed. Jennerstown is also the home of The Randy Witkum Memorial 125 for the wing supermodifieds.

Great Diversity in Schedule

The schedule once again shows a great deal of diversity with SUPRS utilizing three different sim racing platforms. The rFactor racing sim makes up the bulk of the season, with three NASCAR Heat dates, and two rFactor 2 races.

Adding to the challenge of three different sim racing platforms, is the addition of two wing supermodified races during the season

Special Night for 15th Anniversary of First Non-Wing Race

Similar to what was done to celebrate the date of SUPRS first race as a sanction during the recently completed Gold Crest Wing Supermodified Championship, SUPRS is going to run a three in one show on the date of their first non-wing supermodified race.

The Independence Day Triple 33s, on July 2, features all three sim racing platforms, (NASCAR Heat, rFactor, and rFactor 2), and three different tracks along with a special format for the night.

SUPRS first non-wing points event was run on July 6, 2005 at Jennerstown Speedway and was a “twin 25” lap affair. The first race was won by SUPRS co-founder John Davidson, while the second went to Sean Gibbs of Canada. Davidson and Gibbs conquered a field of cars that topped 19 and were joined by four other drivers that led laps in the very competitive evening on that first night of non-wing racing

Popular Races Stay on Schedule

Popular and long-standing races are staying on the schedule for 2019. These races include the Jim Shampine Memorial on June 18, the 1st to Finish Race Servers “IrReGuLar 45” on June 25, the Mid-Season Championship 100 on July 9, the two-day Mr. Online Supermodified show on July 30-31, and “The Whistler” Pete Trenca Memorial on August 6.

Summer Break Planned

SUPRS will take its annual break from online supermodified sim racing for the popular International Supermodified Association Hy-Miler Supermodified Nationals at Sandusky Speedway. This race is part of the real supermodified “Triple Crown” and many SUPRS members will be in attendance on July 26-27.

15th Season Concludes with Topless! 200

To close out the 15th consecutive year of SUPRS non-wing supermodified sim racing, Topless! 200 week begins on Sunday August 11 with SUPRS Sunday Night Test-N-Tune. Also tentatively scheduled for Sunday night is the Rising Star 50 for drivers that have never won a SUPRS non-wing supermodified feature. The winner of the Rising Star earns a guaranteed starting place for the 15th Annual Topless! 200.

Then on Monday, August 12, the racers will  strap on the wing to go for the win in the 50 lap SUPRSNationals race. This race puts the checkered flag on the 2017-18 Empire State Supermodified Series regional tour which pays 15 bonus points to the overall points champion of that tour.

On Tuesday, August 13 the SUPRS racers will turn up the wick to run for the pole of the 15th Annual Topless! 200.  Just the top two drivers with the top two times are locked into the race. Everyone else has to get to the big show through 10 lap heat races and, if needed, a B-Main.

Everything leads up to Wednesday, August 14, when it’s time to go Topless! Up to 20 of the finest supermodified sim racers in the country will try to add their name to the long list of Topless! 200 champions. The 200 lap grind at Oswego Speedway is also the third and final leg of the 2019 SUPRS Triple Crown of Supermodified Sim Racing presented by Icings on Top.
