Littleton, CO – April 14, 2015…The Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series is ready to roll into the Rocky Mountain State to compete at Colorado National Speedway for the second year in a row tonight.
The “Tax Day Double Trouble Twins” will showcase the talents of the SUPRS competitors during the day as well as during the evening, making this race as challenging as trying to file your taxes with the Internal Revenue Service on Tax Day.
Each 50 lap feature will have its own set of time trials to help establish the line up. As an added twist, drivers may choose to qualify for second Twin or choose to stand on time from first Twin. Only the top four qualifiers based on all times from both races will be eligible for the second feature inversion redraw. The first race will feature a Fast Four Dash and a heat race.
The famed track in Dacono is Colorado’s only NASCAR sanctioned track and home to the Englewood Racing Association. The ERA is the oldest real supermodified sanctioning body in the country and races at CNS about once a month.
The current All-Time supermodified track record for the real track is 13.831 set by Davey Hamilton in 1993. The current one lap record as recorded by transponders belongs to multi-time ERA champion Harold Evans. Harold set the record during a heat race in 2011 when he turned a 14.149 second lap.
The online version of the track was converted from the NASCAR 2003 platform by “Smoke” and can be downloaded from the Mod Squad. The realism and detail put into the online version is truly something to behold and many will recognize some of the iconic CNS features situated around the track.
Ray Sand, Jr. set the current SUPRS official fast time for the day version last year at 14.359. SUPRS most recent winner, Steve Callahan holds the track record for the night version at 14.387.
Last year Rob Warren grabbed the win during the day after starting from the pole. Ray Sand, Jr. came back from a miserable run in the first Twin to take the win in the second over Warren. Both drivers led from start to finish in each feature and each race took just over 12 minutes to complete.
Practice starts at 8:00pm and Time Trials for the first Twin will take place at 8:45pm. Racing gets underway at 9:00pm with the drop of the green flag for heats.
