SUPRS Non-Wing Supermodified Sim Racing Season Begins June 12
June 5, 2018 – Goshen, IN…The Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), 14th season of non-wing supermodified sim racing begins June 12, with a 12 race summer schedule.
THE SUPRS 2018 Gold Crest Non-Wing Championship XIV Schedule is nearly identical to the last year’s with events using the rFactor racing sim and every race scheduled for Oswego Speedway.
Again this season, all the races are available via SUPRS LIVE! so fans can watch their favorite drivers while enjoying scoring, stats, and track telemetry.
The 14th season of SUPRS non-wing supermodified sim racing gets rolling a week later than in year’s past with the Port City Kick-Off on Tuesday June 12.
The 13th Annual Jim Shampine Memorial 80 follows the opener on the very next Tuesday. This race honors the “father of the modern supermodified,” Jim Shampine. Shampine tops the list of All-Time Winners at Oswego Speedway with 87 feature victories, was a 7-time track champion, and won the prestigious International Classic 200 three times.
This race is the first of three ‘guaranteed starter” races for the season ending Topless! 200.
Because of the later date for the first race, SUPRS has been dropped the “Flag Day 45”, but the popular 1st to Finish Race Servers “IrReGuLar 45” will take place on June 26. This race is a tip of the hat to the challenging Oswego Speedway formats of the 1960s to 1980s with heats, consolation races, a semi-feature and feature.
Changes in July
The Independence Day Twin 35s get July off to a bang on the fifth. The Mid-Season Championship follows the Twins a week later as a special 100 lap double-points feature event.
A regular 45 lap feature takes place on July 17 after which SUPRS will take its annual break from online supermodified sim racing for the International Supermodified Association Supermodified Nationals at Sandusky Speedway. This race takes place July 27-28 and is part of the real supermodified “Triple Crown”
Many SUPRS members are not only big fans of the event, but several even work on real supermodifieds, so it only makes sense to take a break to enjoy real supermodified racing.
Big Shows in August
When the racers come back from the Summer Break, they’ll vie for the 11th Annual Mr. Online Supermodified title.
This challenging event takes place on July 31-August 1 and is a wing and non-wing supermodified show. Each night the drivers will race a 50 lap feature after time-trialing and racing heats. Each time a driver is on the track, he gains points that go towards his two-day total.
After the points get tallied, one driver will emerge as the 2018 Mr. Online Supermodified champion and gain valuable bonus points towards his overall championship run.
The 14th Annual “The Whistler” Pete Trenca Memorial 60 pays tribute to Peter “Program” Trenca, a founding member of the Oswego Speedway Eagles Fan Club. The Eagles Fan Club is an organization that supports supermodified racing at Oswego Speedway. Trenca was a special part of the weekly racing at Oswego as a program seller and friendly face greeting all the fans.
Topless! 200 Schedule Tightened Up
Topless! 200 week begins on Sunday August 12 with SUPRS Sunday Night Test-N-Tune.
Then on Monday, August 13, the racers strap on the wing to go for the win in the 50 lap SUPRSNationals race. This is the last leg of the 2017-18 Empire State Supermodified Series regional tour.
On Tuesday, August 14, th run for the Topless! 200 Pole Position is the focus. Just the top two drivers with the top two times are locked into the race. Everyone else has to get to the big show through 10 lap heat races that follow to set the 20 car starting field.
All the preliminary action leads up to Wednesday, August 15, when it’s time to go Topless! for the 200 lap grind to close out the non-wing supermodified sim racing season at Oswego Speedway.
Follow the Action with SUPRS LIVE!
Fans of SUPRS will again be able to follow along with their favorite SUPRS racers via the SUPRS LIVE! Timing and Scoring page which shows instantaneous position changes, lap times, penalties, race status, and as noted above, live streaming video.
Throughout the non-wing season, anytime there is racing on the SUPRS race server, fans will also be able to quickly check up on how things are going by watching the scrolling ticker throughout the site.
If they can’t make it to SUPRS.net for the live action, they can always catch up with the SUPRS rFactor Results page showing every race of the season in complete detail at night’s end.
