SUPRS Topless! 200 Week

Share SUPRS:

August 11, 2019 – Goshen, IN…The Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), brings its 15th Anniversary Season to a close with on track action at Oswego Speedway this week from Sunday August 11 through Wednesday August 14. Topless! 200.

Tune Up Sunday

Starting at 6pm on Sunday August 11, drivers have a chance to get tuned up in all three divisions of cars. The night starts with the non-wing supermodifieds, then the wing supermodifieds and finally the racers strap into their Super HEAT Tour modifieds.

This Test-N-Tune also gives the SUPRS and Mod Squad admins a chance to get a feel for how race night will go, as well as affording the opportunity to help any sim racers that may need it.

Racing Starts Monday

Racing action starts on Monday, August 12 with two exciting types of race cars on the same night. First up is the final race of the 2018-19 Empire State Super Series Regional Tour.

The ESS tour, which started back in January, has had three races and three different winners so far. Rob Warren and Keith Powell are in a neck and neck battle for the tour championship which pays 15 bonus points to the overall champion. The wing supers take to the track at 6pm for Systems Checks with the expected feature start time around 7:30pm.

Following the ESS 50 lap feature is the return of the SUPRS Mod 200. In a joint sanctioning venture with The Mod Squad and Heat Finder, the SUPRS Mod 200 features the Super HEAT Modified Tour going for 200 action packed laps at Oswego Speedway using the NASCAR Heat sim racing platform.

Organizers are expecting a good turnout of talented sim racers from all three sanctions, as well as outsiders and outlaws, who will be showcasing their skills in the ground pounding pavement modifieds. The last time the SUPRS Mod 200 was run, Myles Maxon was the winner.

Hot laps for the modifieds start at 8:00pm on The Mod Squad NASCAR Heat race server, with the drivers meeting taking place on the Heat Finder TeamSpeak3 voice server.

Go Fast Night

On Tuesday, all focus switches to going as fast as possible with the 15th Annual Topless! 200 Pole Night show.  While everyone will have a shot at the pole position only the top two qualifiers will be locked into the 2019 Gold Crest Non-Wing Championship marquee event.

Recently, Dave Ohh man-handled his TMS Wolfpack “Black Beauty” roadster to a new track record of 15.920 seconds, topping the nearly, one-year-old mark set by Bob Gangwer of 16.099. The speed and thrill of Pole Night begins at 7:30pm with Systems Checks. Practice starts at 7:45pm and the run for the Topless! 200 pole position starts with the slowest driver from practice at 9:00pm eastern.

TOPLESS! 200 POLE NIGHT SCHEDULE

Speed and Patience Needed on Wednesday

The Topless! 200 is the longest, and toughest non-wing supermodified sim race of the season, and also SUPRS last points show of their 15th consecutive season. 200 laps is a long way to go without a pit stop, so strategy, tire maintenance,  as well as speed,  will be the defining keys to a win in this always eventful race.

The night begins with Systems Checks at 6:30pm. The first practice session is at 7:00 pm for qualified cars. Non-qualified cars hit the track at 7:15 and the track opens for everyone at 7:30pm.

Final Warmups are at 8:00pm after the Drivers Meeting and pre-race festivities including interviews, National Anthem, and Driver Introductions are at 8:15pm.

The green flag for the 15th Annual Topless! 200 is scheduled to drop over a fine field of supermodified sim racers at 8:30pm.

Topless! 200 Part of Triple Crown

Adding to the pressure of just finishing the big race, is the fact that it’s also the third race of the 2019 Triple Crown of Supermodified Sim Racing presented by Icings on Top. To date, just two drivers have won the Triple Crown which also includes the SUPRS All-Star 200, and the Summit Classic 125 for winged supermodifieds.

Triple Crown Winners:
  • Ray Sand, Jr.: 2011
  • Rob Warren: 2017

Championship Down to Wire

One of the most interesting aspects of this action packed week of sim racing is who will wear the 15th Anniversary Gold Crest Non-Wing Supermodified Championship crown. There’s been a see-saw battle throughout the top five all summer, but it’s come down to two of the best sim racers around.

Three-time and defending series champion Rob Warren has a scant 33 point lead over 18-time ARL HeatFinder.net champ Dave Ohh. With a lot of bonus points on the line throughout the week’s events, it’s truly anyone’s guess who could come out on top.

Ohh is the newcomer to supermodified racing and always has a lot of speed, but Warren’s experience in the supermodifieds, as well as his ability to buckle down and focus when the going gets tough, is going to make it hard for Ohh to pull off his first SUPRS championship. Either way, it should be a thrilling finish to a fantastic 15th Anniversary Season for SUPRS.

About KTimmins77

Supermodified fan for over 30 years. Heard about this MOD and had to give it try! Been doing graphic art and design for along time. Owner of Breezegraphics Supermodified Art. Specializing in Vinyl Stickers and Window Clings. So designing my own paint scheme is right up my alley. :) Looking to enjoy some SUPRS racing and meet some new friends. Picked #77 in honor of "The King of Supermodifieds" Bentley Warren. I'll never forget that ragged old car (former swift 10pins) he used to muscle around The Steel Palace in the 70's.
