SUPRS Topless! 200 Supermodified Sim Race is the Original

Share SUPRS:

August 9, 2020 – Goshen, IN…The Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), Topless! 200 is “The Original 200 Lap Supermodified Sim Race,” and some of the best supermodified sim racers in the country are ready to get on track at Oswego Speedway for this time honored tradition of closing out SUPRS summer season. The 200 lap race is the culmination of on-track action from Sunday August 9 through Wednesday August 12, and is modeled after the famed “International Classic 200” at Oswego.

It’s time for “The Original 200 Lap Supermodified Sim Race” – SUPRS 16th Annual Topless! 200 on August 12, 2020. (Poster by Borderline Enterprises)

Test-N-Tune Gets the Party Started

Everything kicks off August 9 with the SUPRS Sunday Night Test-N-Tune. The drivers will have a chance to put their wing and non-wing supermodifieds on the track to test their set ups while the SUPRS directors go through systems checks in preparation for Topless! 200 Week.

A 100 lap fuel run is planned for the non-wing cars, while a 25 lap test takes place for the wing supermodifieds. It all begins at 7pm eastern.

SUPRSNationals on Monday

On Monday, the racers strap on the wing for the the SUPRSNationals Winged Supermodified 50, which is the last Empire State Super Series Regional Tour show of the season. This year the race will use the NASCAR Heat platform and is part of the SUPRS/HeatFinder.net Supermodified Challenge.

SEE CURRENT ESS POINTS

The five-race 2019-20 ESS tour started in December at Diamond Speedway where Keith Powell led 41 of the 50 laps to take the win in the NASCAR Heat wing supermodified feature. Powell and Rob Warren then split the wins at Oswego Speedway when SUPRS visited there for the Gold Crest Wing Supermodified Mid-Season Championship Twin 35s. Even so, it’s Brad Keysor who leads the ESS points standings with consistent finishes in the three features to date. Coming off of his recent win in The Whistler just a week ago, could give him the momentum he needs to claim his first ESS championship.

Pole Night and Rising Star on Tuesday

On Tuesday, all focus switches to going as fast as possible with the 16th Annual Topless! 200 Pole Night show.  While everyone will have a shot at the pole position only the top two qualifiers will be locked into the 2020 Gold Crest Non-Wing Championship marquee event.

Ohh, Keysor on the Front Row for 15th Topless 200

Dave Ohh, who has been on a tear during the SUPRS summer season holds the track record set in June of this year. “SpeedyMan” will do his best to break his own mark of 15.917 seconds after sitting on the pole last year. He’ll have a host of  other fast racers hoping to lock down a front row start, including Brad Keysor who lined up next to Ohh last year.

For the first time since 2012, the SUPRS Rising Star will precede the Topless! 200 time trials. his one of a kind event for non-wing supermodified sim racing is open only to invited SUPRS Members that have never won a feature event at Oswego Speedway in a non-wing supermodified. The drivers must have also made a starting attempt in at least three SUPRS non-wing supermodified features during their career.

The speed and thrill of Pole Night begins at 7:30pm with Systems Checks. Practice starts at 7:15pm for drivers eligible for the Rising Star. The Rising Star 50 green flag drops at 9:05pm with the run for the Topless! 200 pole to follow at 9:25pm eastern.

Long, Tough Race Takes Patience, Luck

The Topless! 200 is the longest, and toughest non-wing supermodified sim race of the season and “The Original 200 Lap Supermodified Sim Race.” It’s also the last points show of SUPRS 16th consecutive year of sanctioning supermodified sim racing. 200 laps is a long way to go without a pit stop, so strategy, tire maintenance,  as well as speed and luck are all part of the equation to winning this great race.

The night begins with Systems Checks at 6:30pm. The first practice session is at 7:00 pm for qualified cars. Non-qualified cars hit the track at 7:15 and the track opens for everyone at 7:30pm.

Final Warmups are at 8:00pm after the Drivers Meeting and pre-race festivities including interviews, awards presentations, National Anthem. Driver Introductions for “The Original 200 Lap Supermodified Sim Race” are at 8:15pm.

The green flag for the 16th Annual Topless! 200 is scheduled to drop over a fine field of supermodified sim racers at 8:30pm.

Topless! 200 Part of Triple Crown

Adding to the pressure of just finishing the big race, is the fact that it’s also the third race of the 2020 Triple Crown of Supermodified Sim Racing presented by Icings on Top. To date, three drivers have won the Triple Crown which also includes the SUPRS All-Star 200, and the Summit Classic 125 for winged supermodifieds. When Dave Ohh won the Summit Classic back in April, he put the final feather in his Triple Crown cap after winning the 2019 Topless! 200 and the 2020 All-Star Classic 200.

Triple Crown Winners:
  • Ray Sand, Jr.: 2011
  • Rob Warren: 2017
  • Dave Ohh: 2020

Two Nights, Two Sims, Makes Mr. Online Supermodified Tough to Win

Share SUPRS:

July 27, 2020 – Goshen, IN…After a week away for summer break, The Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), returns to racing Tuesday and Wednesday, July 28, 29 with the 13th Annual Mr. Online Supermodified sim racing spectacular.  This, two night event features the SUPRS heroes competing with the rFactor and NASCAR Heat sim racing platforms, in their wing and non-wing supermodifieds at Oswego Speedway

The SUPRS Heroes will battle for supermodified sim racing supremacy on July 28-29 at the 13th Annual Mr. Online Supermodified event. (poster by BreezeGraphics.com)

Speed, Consistency, Tenacity Key

The 13th Annual Mr. Online Supermodified rewards a driver’s skills and tenacity using two types of sim racing games and two types of supermodifieds. Drivers will need to be faster than a speeding bullet as they compete in their winged rFactor supermodifieds on Tuesday, and switch to their non-wing supermods on Wednesday.

But speed isn’t the only key to overpowering their foes. Over the course of the two nights, a running tally of points will be kept for from time trials, heat races, and the two 50 lap feature races. A driver will need to be consistent, and fast throughout the two-day event if he wants to claim the coveted 13th Annual Mr. Online Supermodified Cup sponsored by 1st to Finish Race Servers.

100 Laps, Double Points as Drivers Hope to Catch Ohh

July 6, 2020 – Goshen, IN…Double points and 100 laps for the Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS),  Mid-Season Championship on July 7, 2020 at Oswego Speedway, may be just what the rest of the drivers need if they want to catch Dave “SpeedyMan” Ohh who sits alone at the top of the SUPRS points chase for non-wing supermodified sim racing by 179 over the next closest competitor.

There’s a lot on the line at SUPRS 2020 Non-Wing Supermodified Mid-Season Championship at Oswego Speedway July 7. (Poster by Borderline Enterprises)

Wanted: Dave Ohh (AKA SpeedyMan)

Ohh has won the last six SUPRS features in a row and shows no sign of slowing down as he works towards his first SUPRS Gold Crest Season Championship. For the second time in his short SUPRS career, Ohh, of Union, CT, has the SUPRS Bounty on his head and will certainly be the driver to beat in the big 100 lap feature as he runs from the SUPRS Bounty Hunters.

The first driver to beat Ohh will collect the SUPRS Bounty and will “take” ten points from Ohh’s SUPRS Gold Crest Wing Championship total.

If Ohh can keep the streak alive, he will get five championship points added to his total for the night and the bounty will increase by five points until it totals of 25 points.

“SpeedyMan” is really on a roll and with his unbroken string of non-wing supermodified wins going all the way back to July 31 of 2019, the bounty hunters will have their work cut out for them.

Lots of Points

Double Points for the feature have many drivers hoping to seize the opportunity to make a jump in the point standings, or gain a little cushion in the close contest from second to fifth, and sixth to twelfth, in the points.

But it’s not just the double feature points that are up for grabs. Again this year, Drivers will also be gunning for the overall Gold Crest Non-Wing Supermodified Mid-Season Championship. The driver that accumulates the most combined points for his heat race and feature race finish receives 15 bonus points when he’s crowned the Mid-Season Champion.

Other bonus point awards are available during the night including:

  • SUPRSCharger – Feature (10 points paid to the driver that advances the most places from his starting spot)
  • SUPRS Bounty –

Mid-Season Times

There’s a lot of action coming at you this Tuesday July 7, 2020 for the SUPRS Gold Crest Non-Wing Supermodified Mid-Season Championship at Oswego Speedway.
