SUPRS Western Swing Continues with Show Me State 50 at I-70

Share SUPRS:

March 21, 2020 – Goshen, IN… The Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), “Western Swing” really gets rolling on March 24 with the Show Me State 50 at I-70 Speedway in Odessa, MO. This is the third year now that SUPRS has visited the high-banked 1/2 mile as part of the Western Swing that started last week in Wisconsin at Madison Int’l Speedway and ends in California on April 29 with the 16th Annual Summit Classic 125 at Madera Speedway.

Two Races, Two Cautions, Two Winners

In the inaugural Show Me State 50 back in 2018, Nelson Rodrigues won a thrilling 50 lap feature that had just one caution and took only twelve minutes to complete. Then last year, Keith Powell won another barn-burner in a race that also had just one caution, but three different leaders. It too was a fast one as it took only 12:06 minutes to complete. 2019 Icings on Top Rookie of the Year contenders, Dave Ohh, and Brad Keysor followed Powell across the line less than one second behind.

Considering how tough it is to keep the car under control over the rough pavement and high-speed banks, it was a surprise to everyone that the first two races nearly went caution free.

Taking it to the Banks on Tuesday

SUPRS Western Swing rolls on with the Show Me State 50 on Tuesday March 24, 2020 at I-70 Speedway in Odessa, MO.  Practice begins at 8:00pm with Time Trials 8:30pm. The Fast Car Dash follows at 8:45pm prior to the start of the SUPRS LIVE! broadcast. Heat races go off at 9:05pm and the feature should take the green flag around 9:20pm.

March 15, 2020 – Goshen, IN…After a two year run at Rocky Mountain Raceways, the Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), popular St. Patrick’s Day Grab O’ the Green supermodified sim race is moving to Madison International Speedway on March 17. First Time in WI for SUPRS

The 2020 St. Patrick’s Day Grab O’ the Green will be the first time SUPRS has contested a race in the state of WI. Although the sanction planned a race at the Milwaukee Mile in the early days of the sanction, the date fell through.

Works Well with Western Swing

While there may not have ever been a lot of supermodified racing in a state famous for turning out late model stock car legends like Joe Shear, Tom Reffner, Alan Kulwicki, Dick Trickle, and the Sauter family, to name a few, but it makes sense to run a show at Madison according to SUPRS co-founder Bob Gangwer. “For us, this year, after re-arranging the Western Swing, it just made sense to do something in Wisconsin,” said Gangwer. “I know it’s not a place where supermodifieds have run much, if at all, but sometimes, when the calendar aligns right, and it’s an chance to run a new track in a state that SUPRS has never run, and it’s a place where there is a great history that we can educate people in the sim racing community about, then we should try it out.”

Follow the Action Live

The SUPRS St. Patrick’s Day Grab o’ the Green rFactor supermodified sim race at Madison Int’l Speedway is a family friendly affair. With the Heat Races and 50 lap feature being broadcast on SUPRS LIVE! beginning at 9:00pm est, everyone can keep track of stats, track telemetry and official scoring and timing charts while they enjoy live video of the racing action that’s faster than an Irish Jig!
