SUPRS Racers Shooting for Burgers’ Smokehouse Turkey

Share SUPRS:

November 16, 2015 – Goshen, IN…The Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), 11th Annual Turkey Shoot takes place this Tuesday November 17 and the winner won’t go hungry when he’s awarded a Burgers’ Smokehouse turkey, delivered to the doorstep in time to enjoy it with the family for Thanksgiving dinner.

You could win a Burgers’ Smokehouse Thanksgiving Turkey!

The succulent slow smoked turkey has a value of over $60 and comes from a family company that was started in 1952 by E.M. Burger in Moniteau County Missouri.

Bugers’ Smokehouse can trace it’s roots all the way back to the 1920s when E.M. Burger’s parents startedBurgers' Smokehouse logo curing hams on their local farm. Now known as one of the largest companies of its kind, the time-honored traditions of hard work and special personal touch have never been lost, to the point that, according to the Burgers’ website, each ham still starts the curing process by being hand-rubbed with a seasoning blend dating back to one developed by the family over 100 years ago.

The 11th Annual Turkey Shoot is the second race of the 2015-16 Gold Crest Wing Championship Season to use the SUPRS NW V1 non-wing supermodified for rFactor. Not only is that a bit of a change from prior Turkey Shoot’s but after many years of the race being held at Tri-Park Speedway, this year’s race will be held at Memphis Motorsports Park for the first time since 2007.

For the first three years of the Turkey Shoot it was held at the big 3/4 mile track and varied in length from 63-40 laps. John Davidson won the very first show in 2005 with Chris Meyers picking up one of his first SUPRS feature wins in 2006. The last time the race was held at Memphis in 2007, Florida’s Kris Heveron was the winner over Dave Soja, Myles Maxon and a bevy of other talented sim racers in the 17 car field.

Nom, Nom, Nom thanks to Burgers’ Smokehouse!

Last year Carl Becker of Lansing, MI led the entire 50 lap race to claim his first Turkey Shoot victory, while in 2013, Joey Callahan not only claimed his first Turkey Shoot, he won his first ever SUPRS feature. Both drivers capitalized on their starting position which is set by  the six lap Turkey Trot qualifying race for the Elite 8 time trialed cars.

So who’s hungry for a Burgers’ Smokehouse Thanksgiving Turkey and some great online supermodified sim racing? Supermodified and online sim racing fans and friends can savor the action and view timing and scoring of every SUPRS rFactor race in an instant, including the 11th Annual Turkey Shoot via the SUPRS LIVE! page.

North Carolina Swing Tests SUPRS Racers

Three Nights, Five Tracks, One Champion, North Carolina Swing Toughest on Schedule

November 1, 2015 – Goshen, IN…The Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), 12th Annual North Carolina Swing is rightfully considered the toughest multi-race swing on the schedule.

The three-night extravaganza of supermodified sim racing features five different tracks in three nights of racing all based in North Carolina. As the racers vie for the coveted North Carolina Swing Championship Crown they will also be racing for points in the Gold Crest Wing Supermodified Championship.

The series kicks off Tuesday, November 3rd at Dasera Speedway and Caraway Speedway, moves to Concord Motorsports Park and Coastal Plains Speedway the next night and finishes off  at Hickory Motor Speedway on Thursday, November 5th where the winner of challenging “Hickory Hustle 75″ will be crowned North Carolina Swing Champion.

To date, there has been just one driver to win the North Carolina Swing Championship more than once. “Mighty” Myles Maxon. He first did it back to back in 2009 and 2010. Last year Maxon was on a hot-streak with his Tamarack Golf Club. “Swamp Monster” having won three of the first four races of the season.

Without winning a race during the Swing, he battled his way through the pack to take the lead from 2012 NC Swing Champion Carl Becker on lap 38, and then went on to win the Hickory Hustle and claim his third North Carolina Swing Championship.

The most recent winner on the SUPRS trail, Rob Warren, has swept the second night of the Swing for the last two years and will be just as much of a threat to win the overall championship again this year.

Steve Callahan has one of the best finishing records in the history of The Hickory Hustle, yet has never been able to win the race or the North Carolina Swing Championship. He had another great run last year and his third place finish was not indicative of the incredible race he ran.

With 20 bonus points on the line to the driver that can pull off this challenging feat, the SUPRS stars will be out in full force vying for an invitation to the Hickory Hustle.

The Hickory Hustle takes the top eight in points after the first four races and pits them against each other with a random start at Hickory Motor Speedway. It’s just one more reason the North Carolina Swing crown is one of the most sought after, and hardest to win, for the SUPRS drivers.

Topless! 200 Finish Will Determine SUPRS Gold Crest Non-Wing Championship for Third Season in a Row

August 15, 2015 – Goshen, IN…The Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series will bring its 11th Gold Crest Non-Wing Championship season to a close this week with the running of the 11th Annual Topless! 200.

The excitement begins Tuesday August 17 with Time Trials for the 11th Annual Topless! 200.  While everyone will have a shot at the pole position only the top two qualifiers will be locked into the 2015 Gold Crest Non-Wing Championship marquee event.

On Tuesday August 18 the 2015 non-wing supermodified points battle will be decided with the running of the 11th Annual Topless! 200 at Oswego Speedway after the field is filled through qualifying heat races.  200 laps is a long way to go and strategy as well as speed will be the defining key to a win in this always eventful race.

SUPRS 11th Annual Topless! 200 trophy

This fine looking piece of hardware will be awarded to the 11th Annual Topless! 200 winner on August 18.

This will mark the first time the SUPRS racers have used the rFactor gaming platform for this race, which throws a whole new set of unknowns into an event that is already packed with intensity.

The race is also the last leg of the six race Xtreme SUPRS Challenge Championship that has spanned the summer months.

Rob Warren is in position to claim his first ever SUPRS Gold Crest championship after a consistent season to date. Warren is the 2008-09 SUPRS Silver Crest Champion, has one win in SUPRS inaugural rFactor season, and is the 2015 Mr. Online Supermodified.

Three-time Topless! 200 winner Ray Sand, Jr. will need a good run to take an unprecedented fourth SUPRS Gold Crest Non-Wing Championship. Sand, Jr. came out of the hole strong with two straight wins, including his second Jim Shampine Memorial which gives him a guaranteed starting spot for the Topless! 200.

Lately though Sand, Jr. has been plagued with computer issues and has struggled as well as an unpredictable car. Like last year, when he trailed eventual Champion Myles Maxon by 22 points coming into this race, he’ll have his work cut out trying to overcome Warren’s by 17 point lead.

Sand, Jr. and Warren are also both very much in the hunt for the Xtreme SUPRS Challenge Championship but will have to topple current XSCC point man Brian Strickland, who won the wing part of the SUPRS 8th Annual Mr. Online Supermodified. As of this writing it is unclear if Strickland will attempt to make the Topless! 200.

Surprising many, including himself, Keith Powell has put himself within the mathematical range of his first SUPRS championship.

Powell, after sitting out of SUPRS competition for several years, has come back with a vengeance and has found the SUPRS rFactor mod much to his liking.  He recently won the 11th Annual “The Whistler” Pete Trenca Memorial and procured the last 2015 guaranteed starting spot for the Topless! 200. Powell sits 35 points out of first and only 18 behind Sand, Jr. in the standings.

To date there have been nine different winners in ten races including the four mentioned above. Other probable entrants include SUPRS 2015 winners Chris Meyers, Joe Achzet, Steve Callahan, Joey Callahan, and AJ Bernys.

Long-time SUPRS member Domenic Gioia has indicated that he will be ready to go as well.
