Three-Night Keystone Nationals Next for SUPRS

March 29, 2019 – Goshen, IN…The Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), is getting ready for a three-night supermodified sim racing swing through the hills and valleys of the “Independence State” for the 14th Annual Keystone Nationals featuring the 15th Annual Randy Witkum Memorial.

Three Distinct Tracks, Two Gaming Platforms

This multi-race swing through the state of Pennsylvania challenges the SUPRS racers over the course of three nights on three very distinctive race tracks, including a uniquely shaped one-mile track that has multiple elevation changes. For the second year in a row, the SUPRS members will be racing with the rFactor and NASCAR Heat platforms.

Swing Opens at “The Square Circle”

The first race is at RT 93 Raceway a half-mile, aptly named “The Square Circle.” This 50 lap NASCAR Heat race is always unpredictable as the racers try to run the fast groove which is nearly a perfect circle. Many SUPRS racers compare RT 93 to the legendary, and now defunct, Flemington Speedway because of the squared off ends that have a ‘short chute’ in between the turns.

Nazareth Night Two

The popular Nazareth Speedway returns for night two of the Keystone Nationals after being canceled last year because of power outages. This one mile oddly shaped track has various elevation changes, a few distinctive bumps, banking that varies from 2.7° and 6.0°, and has what many consider one of the trickiest dog legs, and turn one corners of the season.

Consistency and a smooth, fast approach through the dogleg is what drivers will be striving for if they want to be in Nazareth victory lane after 25 rFactor supermodified sim racing feature laps.

Keystone Nationals Culminate with 15th Annual Randy Witkum Memorial

The Keystone Nationals will culminate with a race that is one of the longest running in SUPRS history; The Randy Witkum Memorial. It will be the 15th time SUPRS has run this 125 lap NASCAR Heat grind at the famed Jennerstown Speedway racing to honor the memory of the late Randy Witkum.

Witkum was a young supermodified racer, and part of an iconic supermodified racing family who tragically lost his life while participating in an International Supermodified Association heat race event at Jennerstown in 1999. The winner of the race gains a “Guaranteed Starter” award for the 15th Annual Summit Classic 125 in May.

For the second year in a row, the SUPRS members will be racing with the rFactor and NASCAR Heat platforms.

RT 93 Site of Keystone Nationals Opener

For the second year in a row, the first race is at RT 93 Raceway which is a half-mile, but certainly not an oval. Many SUPRS racers compare it to the legendary and now defunct Flemington Speedway and while being somewhat square, say that the fast way around is to run a near perfect circle. They’ll be doing that for 5o laps and trying not to get too dizzy.

Nazareth Presents Different Challenges

After a successful, and entertaining début for SUPRS last year, the popular Nazareth Speedway returns for night two of the Keystone Nationals and brings an added challenge. This one mile oddly shaped track has various elevation changes, a few distinctive bumps, banking that varies from 2.7° and 6.0°, and has what many consider one of the trickiest dog legs and turn one corners of the season.

Consistency and a smooth, fast approach through the dogleg is what drivers will be striving for if they want to be in Nazareth victory lane after 25 rFactor supermodified sim racing feature laps.

14th Annual Randy Witkum Memorial Closes Keystone

Finally, on Thursday evening, the Keystone Nationals will culminate with a race that is one of the longest running in SUPRS history; The Randy Witkum Memorial. It will be the 14th time SUPRS has run this 125 lap grind at the famed Jennerstown Speedway racing to honor the memory of the late Randy Witkum.

Race Schedule

Practice begins at 8:15pm on the first two night. Then Heats, and Feature follow after 9:00pm. On Thursday, things get rolling a little sooner due to the length of the race. Practice starts at 7:45pm and the racing begins at 8:35pm with the Heat Races.
