Share SUPRS:

January 27, 2018 – Goshen, IN…The Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), Mid-Season Championship is coming January 30, 2018 to “The Home of the Supermodifieds” Oswego Speedway. With Double Points for the Twin 35 lap features, this night of supermodified sim racing shouldn’t be missed.

Double Points, Many Bonuses

Both feature races reward all the drivers with double points regardless of where they finish. Not only that, but the SUPRSChallenge and SUPRS Charger bonus is available for both features. The SUPRSCharger awards 10 points to the driver that advances the most places from where he started, while the SUPRSChallenge is another 20 bonus points if a driver starts last and wins.

Double Down

Perhaps the biggest bonus is the SUPRS Double Down. This bonus goes to a driver that can win both feature races on the same night and gives him double points on his second feature win. So a racer that wins both features on Tuesday night, gets a whopping 480 points!

For many years only a couple of drivers had ever accomplished winning this bonus, but lately, reigning SUPRS Gold Crest Wing Supermodified Champion Rob Warren has made this feat look easy, claiming it more than once in a span of 12 months.

Mid-Season Champion Bonus

SUPRS has always believed that if you call something a championship, it should really mean something. With that in mind, the Mid-season Championship pays a 10 point bonus to the driver that can tally the most points from time trials to the checkered flag of the second feature.

Part  of ESS Tour

For the second week in a row a New York show for SUPRS is also as part of the Empire State Super Series Regional Tour. The tour includes only those tracks in the state of New York and, since 2015, a mixture of NASCAR Heat and rFactor gaming platforms.

The ESS season is generally composed of anywhere between three to six races and run over the course of one year and two SUPRS Gold Crest Seasons. Each race uses a similar format of Time Trials, handicapped Heat Races and an inverted start for the Feature.

100 Laps, Double Points Highlight Mid-Season Championship

Extra Distance Could Benefit Drivers Trying to Catch Rob Warren

July 7, 2017 – Goshen, IN…The Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS) Mid-Season Championship for non-wing supermodified sim racing is coming on Tuesday July 11, 2017. The race that features a big 100 lap feature paying double points is just the ticket that some drivers need if they want to catch series points leader Rob Warren.

Comfortable Point Lead for Warren

Warren took a big jump in the Gold Crest Non-Wing Supermodified Championship standings last week when he won swept the Independence Day Twin 25s. In so doing, he became just the third driver in SUPRS history to claim the DoubleDown bonus. That bonus rewards a driver that wins both features in a night with double points on the second feature.

Until he did that, Warren, the 2015 Gold Crest Non-Wing Supermodified Champion, had a narrow lead over 2016 Gold Crest Non-Wing Supermodified Champion Keith Powell. Powell, with two wins, looked to be the early favorite in the championship. But now it seems that Warren is the one everyone is chasing for the second half of the season.

Go Time for Everyone Else

Extra points, bonuses, and special points for being deemed Mid-Season Champion, mean this is the race that the SUPRS drivers look forward to as they try to make some major championship moves. This year, it’s guys like Powell, his teammate Steve Callahan, Domenic Gioia and Kyle Clark that are looking to use this race to stay in the hunt.

Gioia has gotten off to the best season start of his career by finishing on the podium three times in the first six races. Not be overlooked is the fact that Gioia won the Mid-Season Championship in 2014 and comes into the show solidly in the top five of the points.

Callahan Hoping to Avoid Calamity

Of all the other drivers mentioned so far, only Callahan joins Gioia as a former Mid-Season Champion. In fact he is the two-time and defending SUPRS Gold Crest Non-Wing Supermodified Champion. He’s also the only driver other than Warren and Powell to pull down a win so far this year. Callahan is also on the élite list of drivers that have more than one Mid-Season Championship crown with two. He’s the only driver competing that could claim a third. The only issue is, Callahan took a big hit last week when he couldn’t race which caused him to drop out of the top five, so he’ll be anxious to have a good run.

Will the Cobra Strike?

Kyle “The Cobra” Clark has steadily moved his way into the top five of the points. Week in and week out he has knocked on the door for his first feature win at Oswego Speedway. If he can slither away from the bad luck that seems to jump up and bite him in the long distance races, he could very well become a real contender for the championship.

Joe Achzet Collects Bounty on Rob Warren Then Lets Warren Slip Away with Mid-Season Crown January 24, 2016 – Oswego, NY…Joe Achzet may have collected the SUPRS Bounty on Rob Warren, but Warren still made out like a bandit at the Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), Mid-Season Championship Twin 35s, finishing second in the first Twin 35 and looting the second feature as he easily stole the overall Mid-Season Championship crown Tuesday night at Oswego Speedway…. Mid-Season Championship at Oswego Speedway Tuesday, SUPRS Bounty on Rob Warren

January 20, 2017 – Goshen, IN…The Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), will run its Mid-Season Championship for the Gold Crest Wing Championship XIII on Tuesday January 27, 2017 and double points, multiple bonuses, and a SUPRS Bounty on the current point leader leader Rob Warren’s head, could lead to a big shake-up in the point standings.

SUPRS 2017 Mid-Season Championship poster

SUPRS depends on BreezeGraphics.com to get the word out with awesome posters like this.

The SUPRS Mid-Season Championship has plenty of racing in store for the supermodified sim racers and every time they hit the track they will have a chance to gain valuable points that add up toward the overall Mid-Season Championship.

Points from Time Trials, Heat Races, and double points for the Twin 35 lap features all add up and whoever has the best tally will be crowned SUPRS Mid-Season Champion and grab the 10 bonus points that go with the title.

Learn About the SUPRS Points System

Extra bonus points are up for grabs as well. The SUPRSCharger pays 10 points to the driver that advances the most places from his starting spot and the SUPRS Challenge awards a 10 point bonus to any driver that can win the feature from the last starting place.

While the focus will certainly be on winning the Mid-Season Championship, the racers will also be looking for a big points score in the ongoing Empire State Super Series Regional Tour of which this event is part of. Just last week Rob Warren won the opening round of the ESS season at Akron International Speedway.

Wanted: Rob Warren – A.K.A “Rocket”

With five feature wins in a row dating back to December 13, 2016, Rob Warren has become a wanted man. He is now one of a select few SUPRS drivers that has had to run from the bounty hunters.

The first driver to beat Warren will collect the SUPRS Bounty and will “take” ten points from Warren’s SUPRS Gold Crest Wing Championship total.

If Warren can keep the streak alive, he will get five championship points added to his total for the night and the bounty will increase by five points up to a total of 25 points for the bounty hunters.

“Rocket” Rob Warren is never one to shy away from a battle and with his history at Oswego Speedway, the bounty hunters will have their work cut out for them.

As a former SUPRS Gold Crest Wing Mid-Season Champion,(2011-12), the Pulaski, NY driver also has a big edge over all other current competitors when it comes to sitting in victory lane at Oswego Speedway.

Even though Warren has plenty of major victories in both wing and non-wing online supermodified races, (including the 2016 Topless! 200), and has 141 points on his nearest contender in the points battle, Keith Powell, when asked recently if he was nervous about losing the points to a bounty hunter he said, “And now a bounty. Nervous? Yeah, I’m wicked nervous.”

If Warren does win the Mid-Season Championship for the winged supermodifieds, he would become the fifth driver in SUPRS history to claim more than one and would join John Davidson, Myles Maxon, Bob Gangwer, and Ray Sand, Jr. who is the all-time Mid-Season Championship winner with four wing and two non-wing and is the defending Mid-Season champ.

Keep an Eye on the Action

It’s not just the middle of the season, but with all of these extra points on the line, it’s a make or break moment for many of the drivers in the points chase and you can be a part of all the drama and intrigue via SUPRS LIVE! on race night.  Keep up with your favorite SUPRS racer in an instant by visiting www.SUPRS.net/site/live.

SUPRS 13th winged supermodified sim racing season continues with the Mid-Season Championship Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at Oswego Speedway.
