SUPRS Statement Concerning Cancellation of Season

February 22, 2026 – Goshen, IN…After 22 years of sanctioning supermodified sim racing, the Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), has decided to put a pause on the current season, with no target of when the sanction may start back up.

“We aren’t shuttering the doors, just pushing pause for now,” stated SUPRS co-founder Bob Gangwer. “John, (fellow SUPRS co-founder), has agreed to keep the website hosting going until and if we pull the plug permanently, but we simply don’t see the sense in running races with only two or three people on the track, or keeping up the stats for that little bit of interest, when we have no help.”

There is some hope that the supermodifieds will be added to iRacing, and if that happens, SUPRS would fire back up again. “Everyone has moved on to iRacing because it is click and play,” Gangwer stated. “I’ve even started to dabble more with the sprint cars there and can see how easy it is to manage a league or points series in a game that does all the work for you from downloading and installing, to keeping points and stats.

“I hate the idea of not having the liberty to build, edit, and perfect our own stuff, but if they ever put the supers into iRacing, we’ll start things back up because we have to be where the interest is.

“Most of our members have moved on to things like iRacing and there is very little help to keep things going. However, if interest increases to where more than four or five people commit to showing up on race night, and some help behind the scenes, we’ll work on getting new people hooked up,” he said. “SUPRS is an online supermodified sim racing sanction. We do not race offline. Not to sound rude, but it’s a pretty complicated process getting our mods installed and there just isn’t anyone around now that can do it efficiently, and we’re not interested in helping people download and install our stuff if they don’t intend to race with us regularly,” Gangwer concluded.

Sim racers and others interested in racing a supermodified online with SUPRS, should express that interest by contacting SUPRS through the on-site contact page, or by leaving a message in the sanction’s Discord server.
