January 31, 2020 – Goshen, IN…The Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), 2020 Florida Speedweeks for supermodified sim racing beings on February 3 and the week-long trek through the Sunshine State visits five tracks in five nights before crowning a Speedweeks Champion on Friday, February 7.

SUPRS 2020 Florida Speedweeks kicks off February 3 and runs through February 7.

Five Nights, Five Tracks

Featuring five tracks in five nights, SUPRS 2020 Florida Speedweeks has a little something for everyone.  Every track is completely different and the week includes tracks from a 1/3 mile inside a stadium to high-banked 3/4 mile and everything in between. These variations of track sizes, banking, surface and two different sim racing platforms always makes for great racing and unpredictable finishes each night.

For the third year in a row, the schedule and tracks for Speedweeks stays the same and that consistency should lead to track records being broken as the drivers have honed their set ups over the last few years.

2019 Speedweeks One for the Record Books

Last year, in what mirrored the closest season championship points battle in SUPRS history, Rob Warren and Keith Powell found themselves tied in Florida Speedweeks points at the end of five nights. Powell, the perfect image of consistency throughout the week, was the defending Speedweeks Champion, and was looking for his third straight Speedweeks Championship, hoping to break his own record of being the only driver in SUPRS history to win the SUPRS Florida Speedweeks Championship back to back.

Warren was as hot as the Florida sun throughout the week and won three features, making him just the third driver in SUPRS history to accomplish that feat. Ultimately, that was what broke the 340 point tie between himself and Powell, allowing Warren to win his very first SUPRS Florida Speedweeks Championship.

After Year Away, SUPRS Wing Supermodified Mid-Season Championship Returns to Oswego Speedway

January 25, 2020 – Goshen, IN…After one year at Airborne Speedway, the Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), Mid-Season Championship for winged supermodifieds returns to Oswego Speedway on January 28, 2020 for Twin 35 lap features that pay double points.

Oswego Speedway Home to Mid-Season Championship

Except for last year and from 2005-2009, the SUPRS Gold Crest Wing Mid-Season Championship has been run at Oswego Speedway.

For most of those years, including those when the race wasn’t run at Oswego, the event, has used a ‘twin’ feature format with two features on- one night, although for four years, the race had a 75 lap feature to close out the night.

Points Galore

This year, like most of the previous years, the driver that accumulates the most points from time-trials through both features is crowned the Gold Crest Wing Supermodified Mid-Season Champion.

Double Points for each feature have many drivers hoping to seize the opportunity to make a jump in the point standings, or gain a little cushion in the close contest among the current top five.

Other bonus point paying awards are available during the night including:

  • SUPRSCharger – both features (10 points paid to the driver that advances the most places from his starting spot)
  • SUPRSChallenge – both features (20 points paid to the driver that starts last and wins the race)
  •  DoubleDown (25 points paid any driver that can sweep the wins for both features)
  • Mid-Season Champion Bonus (15 points. Tally of all points throughout the night)

Races Two and Three of ESS Tour

These two races are also part of the 2019-20 Empire State Super Series Regional Tour Championship which is composed of various races throughout the season at tracks in New York.

Back in December, Keith Powell won the opening round of the current Empire State Super Series when he narrowly beat Bob Gangwer on Blind Date Night at Diamond Speedway.

Powell Pushing

Of late, defending SUPRS Gold Crest Wing Supermodified Mid-Season Champion Keith Powell has sliced his way into, what was for most of the season, a comfortable point lead for Rob Warren. Warren, who has a chance to tie Ray Sand, Jr. for the most wins in this event, (Warren currently has three and is going for four), was socked with a two position penalty last week at the Buckeye 50 after a post race review and now sits just 23 points in front of Powell.

Powell, while being a consistent runner, has his work cut out for him because Warren has a big edge over all other current competitors when it comes to sitting in victory lane at Oswego Speedway. This will certainly be the battle to watch all night long as the two rivals try gather as many points as they can throughout the contest.

Mid-Season Times

With a full slate of action featuring time trials, heats, Twin 35 lap features and double points as well as bonus points for the driver crowned Mid-Season Champion, you won’t want to miss the intense thrills and action at Oswego Speedway on Tuesday, January 28, 2020.

Systems checks begin at 7:30pm, with the drivers hitting the track at 8:00pm for Hot Laps. Time Trials are at 8:30pm followed by Racing at 9:05pm using the rFactor sim racing platform.
