Rob Warren Dedicates Second SUPRS All-Star Classic 200 to Uncle

April 16, 2019 – Epping, NH…A tired and emotional Rob Warren used patience and experience to propel him to his second Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), All-Star Classic 200 win which he dedicated to his recently deceased uncle Jim.

Warren inherited the lead on lap 122 when leader Brad Keysor skated into the turn one infield. Keith Powell also made it by Keysor, who got the car straightened out and finished third. Warren joins Steve Callahan and Ray Sand, Jr. as a multi-time winner in this Icings on Top Triple Crown of Supermodified Sim Racing race.

Overwhelmed by Win

Warren who’s last win in this race came in 2017 said from Star Speedway’s Victory Lane after the race, “I’m shaking, This is dedicated to my uncle Jim. I’m overwhelmed by this win.”

Taking it Easy

The Pulaski, NY driver and owner of 1st to Finish Race Servers let the race play into his hands and took good car of his race car. “I never pushed the car because I was afraid I was going to shred the right front tire off,” he explained. “I was content to run behind Brad and watch him lead a quarter of a track ahead of me.”

Keysor the Class of the Field

Unlike his last win, Warren didn’t lead the most laps of the All-Star Classic 200 this time around, content to ride in second. Keysor certainly looked to be the class of the field, sometimes stretching his lead to over a straight away over Warren and nearly a full lap on third place running Keith Powell. That lead was undone when the first caution of the race came out on lap 111 for an altercation between Bob Gangwer and Steve Callahan in turn four and a subsequent spin by Gangwer into the infield after the contact.

Warren Inherits the Lead

On the restart for the first caution, Keysor looked like he was going to easily pull away, then disaster struck as he took a ride into the infield in turn one. Warren gave his point of view of the incident, “Brad took off after the restart and I watched him come out of turn four and the car just looped on him. I picked up the win by Brad’s misfortune, but thanks to BreezeGraphics.com, Tom Netishen of the North East Motorsports Museum for coming in to talk to us, Kevin Timmins for all of his hard work doing video and of course Icings on Top for sponsoring the Triple Crown.”

Powell Stays on Lead Lap

Second place finisher Keith Powell’s determination to stay on the lead lap was, perhaps, the most entertaining racing of the night. The point leader coming into the race fought hard to keep Keysor and Warren at bay just to have a fighting chance at the podium. “I was going to make them work for it,” he said about Keysor and Warren’s attempts to lap him just before the first caution. “I worked my tail off to stay on the lead lap and then finally that caution came and out I was glad to see that.”

Powell Couldn’t Capitalize

Keith Powell, like Warren had a front row seat for Brad Keysor’s misfortune on lap 122 and thought that it put him in contention for the win. “Brad had a big moment and he almost went a lap down,” Powell stated. “I just started trying to cut into Rob’s lead. I had one shot down into three and I thought maybe i had him. “

Powell added, “I’m wore out, totally. I was going to give it all I had and that’s all I had tonight. Congrats to Rob he had a great car tonight. All in all, a good night and a fun race.”i’m wore out.

Keysor Content

“It was just one of those deals,” said a somewhat disappointed, but content, Brad Keysor about his foray into the dirt and grass of turn one. “The car hadn’t done that at any time in any of the runs I had done. It wasn’t a tire issue, it just stepped left.”

“Thankfully I had a gap on most of the field and I was still fast enough to maybe get Rob and Keith did a great job just running a good line. I’m sad I had to give one away tonight, but congrats to Rob on the win.”

Headed to Hoosier State

After a break from the computer to celebrate Easter, the SUPRS racers start their trek west out of New England to close out the 15th Anniversary wing supermodified season. The first stop is at The Salem Speedway in southern Indiana for the “Hurryin’ Hoosier 30” which is a non-wing supermodified race using the NASCAR Heat sim racing platform. This event is also part of the 2018-19 Indyana Supermod Challenge.

Practice begins at 8:00pm on the treacherous high-banked 1/2 mile oval. Time Trials follow and the green flag for the first heat race drops at 9:05pm.
