Blank Takes Point Lead into Twin 35s at Oswego Speedway
May 11, 2015 – Goshen, IN… The Xtreme SUPRS Challenge Championship picks back up tonight at Oswego Speedway with the Xtreme Short Track Sim Racing, (XSTSR), Mid-Season Championship featuring Twin 35 lap features.
This event includes races two and three of the six race series between XSTSR and the Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), where Saginaw, Michigan’s Tim Blank carries a slim point lead of 29 points over second place runner Art Palmer, Jr..
Palmer has been on a tear lately in XSTSR and is a threat to win his third and fourth XSTSR non-wing sim supermodified wins in a row tonight. He will try to keep Blank from extending his slim point lead, but it’s not going to be easy. While Palmer, with 27 marks, may be only two points behind Blank, he may have more to worry about than catching the leader as rival Brian Strickland and fellow Buckeye, Dan Shupe sit tied sits only two points behind Palmer with 25.
At the first race of the Xtreme SUPRS Challenge Championship, Blank, in his Brutech, Howe Chassis #66x beat Palmer to the line after 50 laps with real supermodified racer, Kody Graham, rounding out the podium on a night that had 25 cars signed in to race.
Using the normal XSTSR format, heat races will be lined up by a handicap system like that used by Oswego Speedway. The top 12 finishers from the heats will then be lined up for the feature event using the same system. Official practice starts at 8:00 pm est with racing going green at 9:00 pm on the XSTSR race server.
Twenty-four drivers hailing from six states and one Canadian province registered to run for the Xtreme SUPRS Challenge Championship making them eligible for awards and prizes that come with being declared the overall Champion.
Even so, with all the races being part of each sanctions’ regular schedule, the races are open to all members, leading series officials to expect fields of up to 30 entrants per race. Just making the feature starting line-up at each race will be a challenge and an accomplishment.
