Second Generation Racer Dedicates Victory to Grandmother

November 11, 2013 – Johnsonville, TN…He may be one of the youngest members of the Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), but Joey Callahan raced like a grizzled veteran and beat several on his way to winning his very first SUPRS feature at the Turkey Shoot 50 held at Tri-Park Speedway.

The emotional Callahan dedicated the win to his grandmother who recently passed and said, “I don’t know what to say, to win my first with SUPRS means a lot.”

He went on to describe how nervous he was as the race wound down. “I just tried to stay smooth and hit my marks, but it’s so hard, Rob was breathing down my neck, I was nervous and wasn’t sure I could hold him off. I just tried not to crash. I know a lot of guys think I need to be more smooth, tonight, I tried my best and it paid off.”

Earlier in the show, Ray Sand, Jr. set fast time of 13.596 and Bob Gangwer won the 8 lap Turkey Trot.

Thanksgiving Break

The SUPRS racers will take two weeks off to allow members to spend time with their families over the Thanksgiving holiday. Action fires up again in December for the Wing Side Up Twin 25s at Bristol Motor Speedway. Full details can be found on the SUPRS schedule page.

About KTimmins77

Supermodified fan for over 30 years. Heard about this MOD and had to give it try! Been doing graphic art and design for along time. Owner of Breezegraphics Supermodified Art. Specializing in Vinyl Stickers and Window Clings. So designing my own paint scheme is right up my alley. :) Looking to enjoy some SUPRS racing and meet some new friends. Picked #77 in honor of "The King of Supermodifieds" Bentley Warren. I'll never forget that ragged old car (former swift 10pins) he used to muscle around The Steel Palace in the 70's.
