Second 1st to Finish Win for Powell

Keith Powell Powers to Second 1^st to Finish “IrReGuLaR 45” in a Row at Oswego Speedway

June 28, 2018 – Oswego, NY…Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), veteran Keith Powell likes longer races, but he’s proven once again that when it comes to the 1^st to Finish “IrReGuLaR 45”, there is at least one exception to that rule. For the second year in a row, the Carrollton, OH racer powered his Icings on Top, C.P.R. Racing “Mayfield Missile” to a dominate win in a quick 45 lap feature that saw him beat Rob Warren to the line by over two seconds. Derrick Backus was third.

Green to Checker in 12 Minutes

Powell took the lead from pole-sitter Nelson Rodrigues by the time the two had exited the second turn and never looked back. He then ran consistent laps to pull out to a large lead in a race that had no cautions and took just a little over 12 minutes to complete.

Caution Free Night

The feature wasn’t the only race that went caution free. In fact, from the drop of the green flag in the first 10 lap qualifying heat, through the two 12 semi-features and the end of the 45 lap feature, there were a total of 93 laps completed without a slow down. The only yellow any SUPRS racer saw all night was of that on the winning driver’s car.

Wild Ride for Waldron

For the second week in a row, Gary Waldron had problems in his Kenowa Auto Supply car and was unable to finish the race. Waldron lost control in his ill-handling machine coming out of turn four on lap two and blasted the inside wall just before the flag stand crashing violently into the pit entrance.  Fortunately the only casualty in the crash was one of his tires as that ripped from his ride and ended up on the front stretch.

SUPRS Celebrates Independence Day

SUPRS celebrates Independence Day and America’s birthday on July 3 with the running of the oldest event on the SUPRS Gold Crest Non-Wing Supermodified Schedule, the Independence Day Twin 35s.

This special night of supermodified sim racing culminates with not one, but TWO 35 lap features at Oswego Speedway. Official practice for the SUPRS “Independence Day Twin 35s” begins at 8:00pm. There is a Drivers meeting at 8:15pm. Racing is set to start at 8:30pm with the first of two 10 lap qualifying heat races. The green flag for the first 35 lap feature is schedule to fly at about 9:05pm.
