Dave Ohh Kicks Off Topless! 200 Week with Win in Winged SUPRSNationals

August 10, 2020 – Oswego, NY…Dave Ohh of Union, CT was able to capitalize on lapped traffic and stole the lead way from Brad Keysor on lap 18, then went on to win the Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), SUPRSNationals winged supermodified sim racing feature at Oswego Speedway. Ohh’s win Monday night came in a race shortened to 35 laps due to a server crash. Keysor rallied back with a damaged car to finish second, while Bob Gangwer, who had fallen back at the start of the race was able to hold off Keith Powell and made it back up to third at the end. Keysor’s second place finish was good enough to help him claim the 2019-20 Empire State Super Series Regional Tour Championship, his first.

Sometimes It’s Good to Be Lucky

Ohh, who has won all but one feature event during SUPRS summer season felt like he got a gift after the top three, of which he was a part, encountered some tough lapped traffic. “The top three were nose to tail and ran up on a lapped a car and it got a piece of all of us, it go me too. I escaped with the least of it,” he said. “I think it got into fourth place too, but going into three i sailed it up to the wall trying to stear way from the chaos and I was able to come out with the lead and had the least damage. I don’t ever like to see it, but I was on the good end of the stick as far as damage.”

“I’ve got to give a shout-out to Brad, I think that’s his best NASCAR Heat finish,” Ohh concluded

Second Not a Win but Enough for a Championship

Brad Keysor may have lost the win but he ended up winning the ESS Championship for the first time in his career after beating Powell to the line for third place in the feature. “The ESS championship is a long, long season, it was just luck and consistency of finish,” said Keysor who was the 2019 SUPRSNationals winner. “The two second places at the double points Mid-Season Championship helped me even though Keith had a win.”

Keysor went on to lament the server crashing with 14 laps to go and thought that Powell may have had enough to get by him had the race finished the full 50 laps. “It stinks for Keith,” he stated. “I had a lot of damage and I could see he was just picking at me and if had gotten me, he we would have tied in points and he would have won the ESS Championship on his win as a tie-breaker. It’s just real unfortunate for him, but I’ll take it and say thanks to Rob. It’s the first time since I’ve been racing that I’ve seen a server go down.”

The 15 bonus points he received, gives him a little more cushion over the aforementioned Powell, who ended up finishing in fourth and who is Keysor’s closest competitor in the the SUPRS Gold Crest Non-Wing Supermodified Championship with just one race left.

Focus Switches to Topless! 200

On Tuesday, all focus switches to going as fast as possible with the 16th Annual Topless! 200 Pole Night show.  While everyone will have a shot at the pole position only the top two qualifiers will be locked into the 2020 Gold Crest Non-Wing Championship marquee event.

Dave Ohh, who has been on a tear during the SUPRS summer season holds the track record set over a year ago. “SpeedyMan” will do his best to break his own mark of 15.920 seconds which he set in July of 2019. Last year Ohh was unable to go faster than his record but still stole the pole for the Topless! 200 with a lap of 15.957. He’ll have a host of other fast racers hoping to lock down a front row start, including Brad Keysor who lined up next to Ohh last year.

Rising Star Returns

Making a return after eight years away, the SUPRS Rising Star 50 gets the night rolling on Tuesday. This one of a kind event for non-wing supermodified sim racing is open only to invited SUPRS Members that have never won a feature event at Oswego Speedway in a non-wing supermodified. The drivers must have also made a starting attempt in at least three SUPRS non-wing supermodified features during their career.

Drivers entered for the Rising Star include:

  • 08-Danny RayR-Goshen, IN (Registered)
  • 7-Nelson Rodrigues-Stoneham, MA (Registered)
  • 14-Bobby HaydukR-Brooke Park, OH (Registered)
  • 22-Zach Sears-Elyria, OH (Registered)
  • 27-Erich BeckerR-Shelby Twnshp, MI (Registered)
  • 56-Dick SchulerR-Chisago City, MN (Registered)

The race will feature a random draw for starting position making it all the more intriguing and the winner becomes a guaranteed starter for the 16th Annual Topless! 200.
