100 Laps, Double Points as Drivers Hope to Catch Ohh

July 6, 2020 – Goshen, IN…Double points and 100 laps for the Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS),  Mid-Season Championship on July 7, 2020 at Oswego Speedway, may be just what the rest of the drivers need if they want to catch Dave “SpeedyMan” Ohh who sits alone at the top of the SUPRS points chase for non-wing supermodified sim racing by 179 over the next closest competitor.

There’s a lot on the line at SUPRS 2020 Non-Wing Supermodified Mid-Season Championship at Oswego Speedway July 7. (Poster by Borderline Enterprises)

Wanted: Dave Ohh (AKA SpeedyMan)

Ohh has won the last six SUPRS features in a row and shows no sign of slowing down as he works towards his first SUPRS Gold Crest Season Championship. For the second time in his short SUPRS career, Ohh, of Union, CT, has the SUPRS Bounty on his head and will certainly be the driver to beat in the big 100 lap feature as he runs from the SUPRS Bounty Hunters.

The first driver to beat Ohh will collect the SUPRS Bounty and will “take” ten points from Ohh’s SUPRS Gold Crest Wing Championship total.

If Ohh can keep the streak alive, he will get five championship points added to his total for the night and the bounty will increase by five points until it totals of 25 points.

“SpeedyMan” is really on a roll and with his unbroken string of non-wing supermodified wins going all the way back to July 31 of 2019, the bounty hunters will have their work cut out for them.

Lots of Points

Double Points for the feature have many drivers hoping to seize the opportunity to make a jump in the point standings, or gain a little cushion in the close contest from second to fifth, and sixth to twelfth, in the points.

But it’s not just the double feature points that are up for grabs. Again this year, Drivers will also be gunning for the overall Gold Crest Non-Wing Supermodified Mid-Season Championship. The driver that accumulates the most combined points for his heat race and feature race finish receives 15 bonus points when he’s crowned the Mid-Season Champion.

Other bonus point awards are available during the night including:

  • SUPRSCharger – Feature (10 points paid to the driver that advances the most places from his starting spot)
  • SUPRS Bounty –

June 14, 2020 – Goshen, IN…The Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS),  15th Annual Jim Shampine Memorial is June 16, 2020 at Oswego Speedway and the race honors the memory of the man that helped shape modern supermodified racing.

Shampine the Legend

Jim Shampine was a seven-time Oswego Speedway Champion that not only won more feature events at Oswego Speedway, (87), than any other driver, but also has three Oswego Speedway International Classic 200 wins to his name, is a two-time winner of the Star Speedway International Classic 200, helped found, and was the 1977 International Supermodified Association champion, and is known as the father of the modern radical off-set supermodified.

Prior to his death in the 1982 Modified 200 at Oswego Speedway, Shampine’s legacy was already well established and continues on to this day as one the one most talked about in all supermodified circles across the country.
